Quick NR question
What is the New Republic's main capital ship(s)? Is it still the Mon Cal cruisers or one of the Star Destroyers they commissioned or something different?

Um.
Which NR era are we talking about?
Post-Endor, their main ships were, IIRC, the MC80B and the MC90. (Mon Cals)
In the NJO, they have newly designed capital ships

That is correct. By the time of the Black Fleet Crisis and the Vong invasion, the New Republic commissioned and built an entire line of newer ships. ("The New Class").Darksider wrote:Um.

If I remember correctly, two ships of this new design included the Nebula-class Star Destroyer and the Ranger-class gunship.

Both. I'm currently writing a wiki article about the New Republic Defence Force and while I know most of the ships they use, I'm not sure on which is their mainline ones, like how ISDs are the mainline ships for the Empire.Darksider wrote:Um.

Bothan Assault Cruisers are also metioned frequently. The Ralroost is one I believe.

I think their main capital ships were typically large Mon Cal designs (Mon Cal being to them what KDY was for the Empire, it seems), refitted Star Destroyers, and at least one SSD (for a while, at least).
I may be completely wrong though.

Most likely there fleet is a mishmash with the Mon Cals acting as the backbone, looking at fleet numbers it seems like it took an awful long time for the galactic economy to stabilize after the Empire's fall to the point where construction of large ships in large numbers was actually feasible again. Most of the books I've read between the Battle of Endor and the NJO suggest ships of ISD scale had become battleships instead of destroyers.
