New Prequel movie?

Post by Praxis »

Please don't be true...
George Lucas said he was finished with the Star Wars movies. Ebert didn't believe him, Karina didn't get it, but more importantly - WE wanted more. Stupid Us. It seems George Lucas told a scooper that he has an idea for another add-on to the Star Wars movie series: a prequel to The Phantom Menace. The story would follow the Jedi regaining control of the universe from the many Dark Lords some 88 years before Anakin Skywalker ever graced the universe. Yoda, who, according to Lucas, was instrumental in the effort, would apparently have a headlining role. However, Lucas, now age 60, says he won't be captaining such a ship if it ever happens.
If true, goodbye continuity! Whatever happened to there not being a Sith the Jedi knew about in hundreds/thousands of years?

SIGH.

In GL's defense however he does state dark lords - not Sith. It could be that these are simply Dark Jedi that they do battle with - although how the Jedi have been the gaurdians of peace and order for thousands of years when only 88 years earlier they needed to wrest the galaxy away from a bunch of dark Jedi is beyond me but I digress. It might be the answer to how Palpatine wrested power so easily after the fall of the Jedi Order. The Jedi knocked out any dark jedi pretenders and so when the Jedi fell there was no one else to oppose him.

Hrm. A simple decimal-place shift -880 year before Ani- and I'd be all for it. Yoda in his prime!

After the two television series (for which he's taking more of an executive role), there will be no more Star Wars from Lucas, as he wants to move on and back to the type of films that he's always really wanted to make since the early 1970s.

Gragh. I'd much rather see "Star Wars: Rise of the Republic"

This is complete bull, only thing I heard was Lucas answering someone in C III (about any TV show in the KOTOR-era). He said, if the two shows were successfull, he´d think about something like that.

Are you sure? Because from everything that I've read, he's made the point that he wants to move to move on completely.

I am still firmly behind my idea of a movie about the prophecy of the chosen one. How it came to be, the sith trying to stop it being made or trying to hear it to find a loop hole (which you could argue they found) and stuff. Maybe KOTOR time or there about.

Well, i'd love to see any SW films, personally. It's been a huge part of my life since i was like twelve and i hate to see it go. However if they have to fuck up continuity to do it i wouldnt be pleased. I'd prefer, as Pcm979 said, they move some numbers around and make it like 800 years or such so that it wouldnt mess up continuity but i could still get my SW fix. :)

I think he meant in an executive role, like with the tv shows. And only if people actually like them.

Now that would be interesting.

Though a teenage Yoda would frankly be disturbing and might ruin our image of him.

(remember, he wasn't quite 900 years old at the time of TPM, so he'd be under 20).

Maybe it was meant to say 800. :?
That would make more sense.

bah, I'd most like to see a KotOR movie.

THAT would be cool! come on who would see it coming when the main character actually turns out to be Darth Revan?

As interesting as the whole "Sith Empire" timeline is, if I'm not mistaken it isn't precisely how things happened in "movie continuity". It doesn't really matter, since the contradictions are not quite so direct in the "recent" past (less than 2000 years BBY).

Personally I'd go for the last known incarnation of the Sith at about 2000 years BBY, which ends with Darth Bane taking an apprentice.

The 88 years before TPM sounds stupid tbh :?

Apparently, there was a mix-up, 800 years instead of 80. I guess this means 900 Yoda-years is like 1100 galactic standard-years or something?

The only problem would be the length; there's so much stuff in KotOR That they'd have to either cut out huge sections (which would suck, since apart from Manaan, most of the game was very cool), or else split it up into several movies. And the problem with splitting it up is that aside from the big revelation, there really aren't any convenient places to do the splitting at.

turn it into series and have one planet per episode/movie.

You could have two movies: One up to the Revelation, and Bastilla's capture. And the other after that point. Its a clear and workable cut-off. ESB-esque. :D

there's still hell a lot stuff there (most of the game to exact). I'd say either per planet or up to Dantooine (film 1) from dantooine to the revelation (film 2) and the the end game (film 3)

True, this might work better.

Maybe something like this:
Movie One

Endar Spire
Taris Upper levels (focus on the search for the escape pods, perhaps something related more strongly to the Dueling Arena.)
Taris Undercity (focus more on the gang war, intoduce Bastilla, Zalaabar, and Mission obviously)
Escape from Taris (rather than attacking the Sith Garrison, moving more directly to the Exchange manuvering and Canderous for pacing concerns)
BDZing of Taris (establishes Malak.)
Dantooine (obviously focuses on training and the beginnings of the Star Forge search, but Juhani should be built up as more an antagonist, although she is redeemed and at the end accompanies the group.)

Movie Two

Kashyyyk (Wookiee rebellion, introduces Jolee, who adds a new element to main character's newfound Jedi hood. Around this time, a relationship with Bastilla should also begin to form.)
Manaan (can be marginalized, perhaps Sunray trial included for Jolee's development. Perhaps point for Calo Nord confrontation)
Tatooine (Serves as development for Bastilla, introduces HK-47)
Leviathan (Same as game, ends upon escape.)

Movie Three

Korriban (Delves into character's flirtation with the dark side caused by the Revelation, this is encouraged in part by HK)
Rataka (focuses on Bastilla Duel, where Character comes the closest to the darks side, but is pulled through by Juhani and Jolee.)
Star Forge (Bastilla is redeemed by Character's love, Malak is defeat and Star Forge destroyed.)
The Rift
