"Liberty" or "Democracy"?

Post by McNum »

There are rumors that there are two different versions of RotS out. Not just the Digital/Analog thing, but one with at least one subte difference in it. Padmé's line at the birth of the Empire.

So in the RotS you saw was the line:

"This is how liberty dies..."
or
"This is how democracy dies..."

Which one did you hear?

I heard "Liberty" myeself.

I'll pay close attention when I watch it again.

I'm almost certain I heard "This is how democracy dies".

I am fairly certain I heard liberty, but I only saw it once and that was almost a week ago now.

I heard Liberty, but something in my mind wants to say democracy. I guess I have an excuse to go see the movie again.

I would have preferred it if she had said democracy, since that fits in context with the scene (she sees the self-appointed Emperor declare the Republic is now his Empire, which effectively equals a death of democracy - but not necessarily liberty, or freedom).

I certainly heard liberty the first time I saw it. Seeing how some people here quoted it as "democracy" I made it a point to pay special attention to that scene on the second viewing, and, yes, it's still "liberty"

I just finished watching it not an hour ago. She said 'liberty' when I watched it...I was actually listening for that since I read this thread prior. :)
