Where did Palpatine come from anyway?

Something I always wondered about. Is their any information anywhere on the background of Palpatine (other than that he's originally from Naboo)? I've personally always been fascinated by the question of what he did before he became a Sith lord. I wonder if he was always that evil, or did he start out as a regular guy and get that way from studying the Dark Side too closely? Was he originally a criminal? An average Joe? A disgruntled janitor at the SW equivalent of McDonalds pissed off cause he thought life was unfair to him? Don't tell nobody else has thought about it.

There's pretty much nothing known about Palpatine's early life or origin.

Well, if he was in fact born and raised on Naboo... escaping the force sensitivity tests somehow... I figure he became a sith because he lived on a planet where gungans have the audacity to exist

The one thing that argues (admittedly weakly) against Palpatine coming from Naboo originally is that he always speaks with a "Core" accent, rather than a "Rim" accent (to use WEG's terminology), even in private. This can be contrasted with Amidala, who affects a Core accent when she's speaking in an official capacity, but uses a Rim accent in private. (And it can be added that with the exception of Sio Bibble, all of the other Naboo whom we hear speak informally use variations of Rim accents, IIRC.) Palpatine may have moved to the sector where Naboo was located to take advantage of an open Senate seat (assuming Galactic Senators are directly elected), but I must acknowledge that is mere speculation on my part.

I always figured he was a refugee that came to Naboo wile he was in his teen‘s. I mean come on Naboo was excepting them in AOTC so it would make sense that the emperor was not checked for force sensitivity, and the accent as well. When Palpitine became a senator, it would make sense that this is were he met Plagusis, since the Sith were located on Corucant.

It is a fact (NEGTC) that Palpatine was born on Naboo.

For accents, it is likely because Palpatine has spent most of his life (that we are aware of) in the Core worlds dealing in politics--accents change, after all.

Amidala on the other hand has spent most of her life dealing on Naboo, as the Queen and senator.

Another thing to add to the DGG's assessment. Note the age difference. Padme is what? A total of 28 years old vs Palpatine's likely 50-60+ years if not more?

He's had far more time to gain another accent.

Why can't multiple different accents exist on a single world? They do here.

Great mobility in SW will tend to make the place more homogeneous; but there very well may be several accents on a world like Coruscant.

They do on Naboo also the bearded dude in TPM hade a core accent, and it’s painfully obvious he’s Nubian.

Thank you. :) (I don't have the more recent edition.) Also, having seen RotS again today, I should correct my earlier comment about us not knowing whether Galactic Senators are directly elected. Padmé comments to Anakin that the Queen would probably remove her from office if her pregnancy became known, which suggests Senators are appointed, rather than elected.

To be pedantic, the non-Gungan inhabitants of Naboo are simply called "Naboo" (see the discussion in TPM between Boss Nass, Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan). "Nubians" would presumably be the inhabitants of Nubia, which is another planet depicted on the starchart included in the NJO books.
