EU: Kyle Katarn

Hi guys,

I seem to remember once when I was reading a Star Wars novel that Kyle Katarn was present at one of the Jedi Academy Office Christmas Parties. I can't remember which book it was and my attempts to skim through them have not hit any good leads. Can anyone remember where it was or am I just hallucinating again?

Cheers,

I think he was mentioned in the NJO as a cameo taking care of the 'younglings' or some such.

The NJO kills me.

Anyway if it helps, in the game Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy, he takes on his first two Padawans (yes, two Padawans dammit!). This happens some time after his confrontation with Desann, which is itself after the fiasco in the Sith temple with Mara Jade.

So while video game events are extremely low level canon, there's another source that places him as an instructor at the academy.

And boy did I love turning to the Dark Side in that game. It was my first choice too. I loved it when Kyle kept telling me to "watch" my application of Force powers, since I was maxing out the Dark Side ones.

Although Kyle had a point. Maxing the dark side isn't a winner's choice in that game.

Indeed. There's no way you can beat the Vjun level 'cause Kyle's too much of a tight arse to let you suck off a little bit of life from him in order to stay alive :!:

Pttf! I made it to the end of the game just fine. Mind you, it was quite a bit harder fighting all the Jedi nearer the end then with them, but fun nonetheless.

I think the added difficulty is more than made up for by the entertainment value of being able to slap people about with force grip

The great thing about Academy is that I was a Lightsider with maxed out Force Grip... I think I threw more Dark Jedi off of cliffs than I killed with my lightsabers.

*nods* Force grip saved me a lot of hassling with sabering. If there was a nearby Endless Pit of Doom (TM), I rarely had to do any physical fighting at all.

So? My daddy is still stronger than yours! :D

Well, you probably would, given that I have never played JA multiplayer...

Whereas I never missed an opportunity for a swordfight. Well, okay, I did push or kick the occasional dark jedi into some pit or another, but generally swordfighting is what I play that game for.

Indeed. What greater fun than playing a fast-paced action game with a ping of 250-500 :P .

Blah! I'm on cable, but assume you're not on a fast connection. Oh well. Perhaps next time. 8)

I'm on DSL, but overseas latency is still just that. If I was on modem, it'd be even worse (and yes, I tried that in my modem days).

NJO. One of the books mentions Kyle Kataran as being one of the Jedi that hadn't been able to make it to the meeting (a few other Jedi were mentioned as well, all EU) and Luke was hoping they were okay.

Only two? Luke took TWELVE originally
