No ITW for RotS?
I was looking at a couple of my ITW's last night, and noticed I didn't get one for RotS. So, I thought, "WTF?" and went online a little bit ago to find it. Only, while digging through Amazon, there doesn't appear to be one. I know that there is that massed ITW being released later this year, did they skip over it since the one being released later covers all the movies anyway?
As an aside, I was thinking about picking up some of the older sourcebooks (Imperial, Rebel, etc) but I don't actually play. Are they still pretty good reads, or is it mainly for those that do play. Thanks.

ITWs are typically released a year later. I don't really know anything about this "massed" one, other than that I really hope they don't do it.

They're skipping over and making us pay more by basically purchasing the three ITWs we have all over again to get the RotS material. Sucks.

Except that you're looking at a book with a fourth of the content of four books each, meaning you're missing a lot of material.Drunk Monkey wrote:![]()
Sucks to be you people who have the ones already released, while if I buy it I’ll wave wasted no money.

True, but I could always get the rest of the data of the web.Spanky The Dolphin wrote:Except that you're looking at a book with a fourth of the content of four books each, meaning you're missing a lot of material.Drunk Monkey wrote:![]()

Supposedly it has an October release date. It's listed on Amazon as "Star Wars: Complete Locations -- Inside the Worlds of Episode I to VI." Although it's listed as having 176 pages? I just noticed that, sounds pretty damn big compared to most other DK books. And I agree, I'd still probably wind up buying the individual ITWs even if I had this one first.Spanky The Dolphin wrote:ITWs are typically released a year later. And thanks for the info Vympel. I thought they might not be releasing one since this one is coming out later. That seems to confirm it.

176 pages? God damn, that actually is about four times the size of a regular ITW.
Okay, I'm not so worried afterall, but it STILL better have a galactic map with the OT ITW planets that were missing...
EDIT: Here's the description from Amazon, for those interested:

The dramatic culmination of DK's best-selling Inside the Worlds of Star Wars series, The Complete Locations of Star Wars uses breathtaking illustrations and insightful text to reveal the planets from every movie in the Star Wars saga, including the hotly anticipated Episode III: Revenge of the Sith.

From an old update at SW.com:
Would be nice if we got some form of timeline for most things in the movies, how the Republic military grew and became the Imperial military, when characters died, how planets/cultures changed etc. This book includes maps and information from the previous Inside the Worlds of... books (written by David West Reynolds, Kristin Lund, Simon Beecroft and James Luceno) as well updated information and new text by Kerrie Dougherty and new illustrations by the same team of artists.

What are the odds this "updated information and new text" will be BS that undoes the good things like the 160 km DS1, 900 km DS2, Executor shields, Endor holocaust support, etc?

I doubt they'll outright undo Saxton's text. What I am worried about is hard figures will be replaced with wishy-washy qualitative shit. And moreover, we'll get something stupid in the galactic map like shit taking from the cartoon Insider/NJO map, instead of the previous, realistic maps.

I worry about the galactic map too, somewhat. But hopefully they'll mantain internal consistancy.
But overall, I'm going to wait until there's more information on the book before I start worrying.
