Would Palpatine have Killed Padme?

Say that Padme decides to stay put and doesn't go flying off to Mustafar. Anakin returns to Coruscant, kills Obi Wan in a duel and takes his place as Palpatine's apprentice without any constraints.
IMO Palpatine would have to kill Padme at this point. She would be a constant competition for his loyalty as Master and frankly Anakin cared more about her than Palpatine or Obi Wan. It was an appeal to save her that turned Anakin. The appeal to save him from Mace got zero reaction from Anakin.
So Palpatine would have to wait until the twins were born and contrive some way to off her. Or do you think Palpatine would have kept her around?

I'm certain he could have turned her to the Dark Side. Obviously not in the Force-sense, but in the general, "you are now an evil bitch" side.

She's dead either way. If Palps doesn't kill her (or more likely have her die in an "accident") Anakin will kill him. Alternatively, Vader would have no loyalty to Palpatine once he's sure Padme is safe.
But I dont' think he'd wait for the twins to be born, he'd off her before she gave birth. Recall from RotJ Obi Wan says, "The Emperor knew, as I did, if Anakin Skywalker were to have any offspring they would be a threat to him." (Or pretty close to that) Even if Padme had been able to give birth, I'm certain that the Emperor would have them all killed.
Unless... he might have kept the children around long enough to have one of them replace Vader. Particularly after he get's barbequed.

Most likely. Palpatine knows she's his whole reason for anything and if she doesn't die from childbirth(his whole reason to bow before Palps in many ways). Anakin slays the geezer and then pretty much sets about to rule with her.
Palpatine undoubtably knows if push came to shove, even he is a distant second to Padme.

It might not be necessary to kill her at all. She recoiled from Anakin when she found out he had turned to the Dark Side. It's possible she would simply have left him at that point. She realized he was no longer the man she fell in love with, and they now had no future together.
However, Palpatine might still need to eliminate her children, and that might entail killing her too.

God help Palpatine if Anakin learns of his intent.

If Anakin beats Obi Wan Kenobi then Palpatine is soon to be in trouble. We all know that the dark side makes you a lot more powerful a lot quicker. Without Vader being trapped in the suit which must surely slow him down he's going to become a threat to Palpatine anyway especially if Padme manages to turn him against Palpatine or if he thinks he can turn her by killing him. Would Padme falling down a shaft help Palpatine? Probably... no nuisance, alternative voice talking to Anakin.

I'm rather glad he didn't have to. Can you imagine the dialoue in that scene?
"Oh Palpy, you're breaking my neck!"

I think he would have kept her around.
First to get her children and second as a hostage to ensure Anakin's loyality.

According to the rots novelization Anakin would be more powerful than palpatine in a short time & the dark side gives power with strong emotions.
also the nooo scene has it that at full power anny “might” have been able to mash palpy.
Now could you imagine what hed do to palpy at full strength to keep Padme alive?
(Think force storm level)

You guys remember right, that he's tried to have her killed on-and-off for close to 12 years? It's all Shadowboxing, Holmes...
He wouldn't keep her alive, he wants and has wanted her dead for so long that there's no way Padme will survive the New Order, not with Sidious running things.

Palpatine would clearly have had to kill her for the simple reason that she represented some thing good and decent and from that the possibility of Anakin's own redepemtion. It's the same reason that the Emperor came to distrust Vader after Luke popped onto the radar.

Maybe it's just me, but it seems clear that Palpatine carefully managed Padme and Anakin's relationship. It was he that suggested that Padme be placed under the protection of their Graces. (That's perhaps my favorite line of the whole series.)
Considering all the other strands of the web that Palpatine wove, I tend to believe that no serious attempt was ever really made on Padme. It was Anakin's anxiety over Padme that drove him to the dark side, so while it was useful for Palpatine to make life seem risky for her, it was even more useful to make it look like she was in danger.
Instead of poisonous organisms, it problably would have been more useful to flood Padme's chamber with poison gas or thermal detonators, eh (in AoTC)? If she was killed in either I or II, Palpatine wouldn't have had that wedge to use between Anakin and the Jedi in III. I think Palpatine intended for Vader to be directly involved in Padme's demise. So much the better that suspicion of the Jedi turning her against Anakin was involved.
My knowledge of the EU is spotty at best, so please be gentle if some of this is dealt with elsewhere.

Yes, I think so, But only at the correct moment. *Takes deep breath*
Anakin has dreams about pandme dying in child birth. The dream does not go into what really happens. Padme died from a broken heart "She's lost her will to live" Because sweet lil' Ani choked her. The same visons came before ani's mom, Shmi dies. Shmi's death is very fishy. She is taken by barbaric Tusken raiders, who are belligerent and don't keep prisoners long and is kept as a slave. For a long time. The facts don't hook up. I heard from a close friend the theory that Sidous controlled the tusken raiders so that anakin would watch his mom die, and feel Hatred Thus turning him to the dark side. Padme would have to be killed, she is to pure of heart and, after the little kiddes were born, Anakin wouldn't have to protect her from dying, and would promptly kill the emporer.

Or worse her death in childbirth would be a direct act of palps to ensure the babies are never boirn

Give her a nice, dehibilitrating condition that Vader and Sidious keep trying to 'cure', (but all Sidious's is leading Vader to do is just keep her in that condition), and Vader will keep Palpatine around to help keep her alive.
Why kill something you can use to your advantage

He wouldn't need to kill her. Just put her into a coma. Doing that would only reinforcee the whole "Together we can find a way to use the Force to save her from death" bullshit he kept feeding Anakin.
With Padme comatose, she'd be effectively out of his hair while keeping the ever-gullible Anakin on a short leash.

Debilitating her wouldn't neccersarily take her out of the picture unless she were somehow turned into a vegetable.

Even a woman in a coma will still give birth. The babies (one or two) will be garunteed to be a threat to him

The same "accident" that turns her comatose could also mysteriously render her sterile.
In essence he arranges something along the same lines as what happened with Grievous.

The way I see it, Palps would definately have had her killed. She's an obstacle that could end up turning Anakin away from him too soon and also cause trouble for him in his rule of the Empire with her influence in the Senate. (She'd be a big player in the rebellion for certain)
She's steadfast and hardheaded and completely set in her beliefs of democracy and the Republic, I cannot possibly see her being corrupted or willingly lead into following the New Order.

For some time now i'm toying with the idea, that Palpatine and Padme were working together from the beginning to replace the Republic with the Empire.
That would be a story with potential ...

Problem is how could he have pulled it of without Anakin suspecting or seeing it with the force,
remember by this point Anakin would be approaching Yoda's power level considering how quickly he was gaining strength based on the ROTS novelization.
