current status of the Yuuzhan Vong invasion
I've been wondering, whats the status of this whole invasion/war? I don't have any of the new books, but I know the basic gist of who the Vong are and why they're royally kicking the NR's ass. I heard somewhere that the Empire was nearly at full strength and the NR was close to collapsing, so is this true? Also, who's in control of the Empire now? I keep seeing Palleons name dropped over at SB.

Actually the NR has established a new throne in Mon Calamari and even a Chief Of State has been elected. The NR is going strong currently. The Vong on the other hand got their asses very royally kicked in the battle of Ebaq in Destiny's Way and they dont have sufficient forces to protect all their areas anymore. They lost over 1000 ships at Ebaq as far as i know.

Yep. not mention Tsavong Lah, who should of ordered an retreat too fight another dy. Oh, and not too mentin Pealleon's SSD. Muwhahaha. He's changed from Dark Tide II, though. Actin like a fat Hippy. It's a charade though.

According to DW, the Yuuzhan Vong have lost as much as one third of their forces. And that was before the Rebel smackdown at Ebaq.

Vong are streched thin, have a rebellion brewing inside their ranks, and just lost their offensive fleet and reserves.
The NR has learned how to use Jedi like Yammosks, has goten reorganized and goten its ass in gear, and has a genetic weapon capable of acting like a giant reset button if the writers choose to cop out like that.

Paelleon's acting like a fat Hippy? What? I suppose this is a problem of different writers having various established characters behaving wildly different than they ought to behave, eh?

Uhhh, what?
That is possibly the most retarded thing I've ever heard anyone had Palleon do / behave. It's because of this *@#(#*@ that I stopped reading the NJO series. I was tempted to pick up Star By Star simply b/c little Ani blew himself up, but I held back b/c I knew "minor" characters were going to be butchered. Not intentionally, but it'd happen, I'm sure...

In Dark Tide II, Pellaeon seems to be more in favor of a liberal Imperial policy towards to NR, at a Moff conference. However, when Leia and Han visit the Empire on a diplomatic mission in Destiny's Way, he acts the part of the stalwart Imperial.willburns84 wrote:Durran Korr wrote:Pellaeon acts like a fat hippy in front of Imperials and acts like an Imperial in front on NR envoys.

Why would he act like an Imperial in front of Han and Leia if he's planning a more liberal policy towards the NR and not in front of his underlings? Makes no sense whatsoever.

Yes, but he shows signs of weakness to his IMPERIAL underlings who might plot to remove him from power. Han and Leia would never do that. Besides, they are the people to be liberal to so as to establish negotiations.

But it's unlikely that Pellaeon would be removed from power, since although he is somewhat liberal, he would no doubt not hesitate to unleash the Imperial smackdown on a rebelling Moff. Besides, it looked like the Moffs advocating a more conservative policy towards the NR were in the minority.

No not rebelling. I mean assassinating him.

No, Pellaeon appears to enjoy a great deal of respect, even among those who disagree with him.IRG CommandoJoe wrote:No not rebelling. I mean assassinating him.

Well, that's understandable. He's the only Imperial warlord who's actually gotten to keep his little slice of the galaxy without the NR coming in to take it from him and send the Empire into the ash heap of history. And he's one of the most level-headed Imperial top-level brass we've seen.Durran Korr wrote:No, Pellaeon appears to enjoy a great deal of respect, even among those who disagree with him.IRG CommandoJoe wrote:No not rebelling. Hmm...maybe the NR should follow in the same footsteps as the IR and make a janitor that served the NR for 50+ years Chief of State.
