Alterate Anakin vs Padme Thought

Help me be a better story writer...

Anakin willingly Force-choking Padme- was that more believable than Padme "accidentally" being hurt?

How would the scene play out if Anakin attacked Obi-Wan with Force lightning, (You will pay the price for your lack of vision!) and Padme rushes to stop him, and gets blasted, again, "accidentally"?

Is this too much cliche'd TV show plot writing? Or is the intentional Force choke better?

Would have been best if they did both
or had Padme get speared by Anakin's lightsaber, or even Obi-Wan's

I think the force choke thing really sold the Anakin is dead, darkside twisty idea.

So it depends if you like the Vader as a seperate person as Anakin theory.

That Anakin totally loses it and decides on his own to choke his pregnant wife is a good point for selling his fall to the darkside.

That she dies of it much later is rather weak. Adding in the Sith lightning or some other serious injury, especially given SW apparent medical skills, would have been much better.

Even if they would have just included the part in the comic where Anakin force shoves her hard against a rock wall would have made her dying in childbirth more believable.

The idea that Anakin sort of sucks the life out of her as he's trying to survive could also work but it's not very clear in the movie if that is the case. If it's true then that is pretty creepy and tragic and fits the tone of what is going on but it just wasn't made clear.

I think having Padme getting hit be even a little bit of Sith Lightning and that being the main cause of her death would have been a good bit. It would show that Sith Lightning is really really bad news to non-force users.

Plus, maybe some EU writer could use some sort of BS about the twins being exposed to Sith Lightning while in the womb as part of the reason why Leia could be under Vader's nose for so long and he didn't notice anything odd about her, or as a contributing factor to why Luke didn't fall to the dark side.

I suppose one could even make Anakin blame Obi-Wan as the reason why Padme gets hit by the lightning too.

I think it works better Anakin doing the choke thing. Shows us how much of Anakin has really gone by this point. On a whim he start killing the love of his life! How can Anakin still be all in there when he does stuff like that?

He goes from a concerned husband to Ted Bundy in a moment!

The Dark Side taints you and warps your perception of things that should be clear. His incredibly deep love for her, that has lasted since his childhood, was mutilated through the twisted lenses through which one who has fallen to the Dark Side sees, turning love into possession.

Making the attack itself "accidental" takes the wind out of its sails. The point is, he did mean to hurt her.

Do note that he didn't intend to kill her. It wasn't the actual damage from the choke that did her in, it was her broken heart (or any number of other weird theories, but not the choke itself).

I think it would have been better if Anakin would have done the "you will pay for your lack of vision!" thing and force lightnings Obi-wan. Padme rushes towards him yelling "No Ani!" when she gets their, she tries to make him stop, but can't until she gets close enough. She tries to push anakins hand down, but by doing so, she accidently makes anakin use a force push on the weakened obi wan, sending him flying of the platform and down... Mean while anakin Turns to padme, He's furios! Padme backs up appologising and asking him/herself what has she done? then Anakin says you betrayed me! and chokes her with the force. We then see obi wan looking up at the platform then jump up with the force and on his way up, turn on his lightsaber. He lands on the plat form and he and anakin go into their cool duel.

*pant pant :) *

Has anyone considered that possibly Palpatine arranged something, which was what actually offed Padme? He seems pretty certain she's dead despite her being gone by the time he shows up. If she showed up alive later Darth Sidious would likely have some trouble on his hands after his little "apparently you killed her" line, no? Maybe it was some kind of poison that would react with her childbirth? Thus if it had played out differently he still had a good chance of keeping Vader in line.

Palpatine: Our powers weren't enough to save her.
Vader: I must get stronger, master.
Palpatine: Right, but first I need you to do this and this other thing.

Perhaps tie in a we can bring her back motivation.

I'm with the other guys in the idea that it is more believable that he killed his pregnant wife on his own free will than accidentally killed her while trying to kill sombody else. It makes you look more evil.

Also, doesn't force lightning takes some training to be learned? it's not like anybody who turns to the dark side can immeditely do it. I believe you have to learn to do it.
Palpatine: dark side of the force is a path way to many abbilities some consider to be unnatural.
Anakin: Is it possible to learn this power?
Palpatine: Not from a Jedi.
Ok, I know he wasn't talking specifically about force lightning, but I think it fits as well with it as it did with the "creating life" stuff. Sith abbilities take special training that Anakin didn't have yet.

He could have sensed her death through the force.

perhaps, but not even Vader is all powerfull (for example He didn't sense Obi-Wan in Mustafar until he saw him)

That's because Obi-Wan's abilities to hide his presence is very fucking good. Dooku doesn't sense him in AotC, the Magna guards watching him don't notice that his not in his fighter when it takes off in RotS, he survived the Jedi purges without the 'dark side' cave trick like Yoda and let us not forget that he sneaky-sneaks all over the Death Star like he owns it in ANH.

no I don't, it was mearly an example of Vader failing to sense something (if he was infact all powerfull and imcapable of failing no tricks by Obi-Wan would have helped).

Why would Vader sense Obi-Wan at that point? I think he was more attentive to Padme than anything else, and he did sense Obi-Wan had been to Padme's appartment earlier in the movie. You're taking this one example to prove your point (which might be valid - or not, I don't know), but it isn't the best example is it?

Especially considering Obi-Wan's sneaky-sneak abilities and the previous example of Anakin sensing Obi-Wan earlier in the movie.

Dooku's lines in AotC might suggest so however in the EU the first thing the Solo kids do on turning dark is start shooting lightening around liek nobovies buisness.

Well yes, but we were talking about Palpatine here, not Vader. And for that matter, Yoda, Mace Windu and other jedi masters were unable to sense Palpatine as a Sith Lord while standing in the very same room. As said by some others in this topic there seem to be abilities to hide a force users' presence and it is very likely that Obi used one of those tricks to hide from Anakin in Mustafar. But lets remember that Padme doesn't havo those powers so she couldn't have possibly used them to hide her presence while dying.
