I read them when I was a lad. They were okay then.

But what do serious fans feel about it, in relation to continuity?

The feeling I get from reading this forum, and other SW boards is that most people hate it and pretend it doesn't exist.

One thing I don't get is how this got into official continuity. When I read these books when I was young, I specifically remembered seeing a disclaimer on the cover saying it was NOT official. Am I imagining things, or remembering incorrectly?

Well, people use it because the micro-wormhole origin story with the Glove of Darth Vader is used to explain why the Death Star debris didn't hit Endor and the Holocaust didn't happen ;)

Oh, when you're 9 they're fun to read. You have a crisis, and 2 pages later it gets resolved. Plus, there's pictures.
