EPIII Senario! RAR!

Right. Obi, Artoo, Ani and Palpy've just been frog-marched onto the bridge after making julienne fries out of Dooku. General Grievous, appearently having lost some brain matter when Windu crushed his guts, decides to chat with them. "That wasn't much of a rescue." He snarls in a slightly suspicious eastern-european accent.

Meanwhile, the Pilot Droids see something in the distance and flinch. "Oh-oh." says one. "Roger roger." The other concurs glumly, and seconds later a damaged fighter ploughs into the bridge, killing all aboard.

What now? The Republic has just lost it's best-known heroes, Obi-Wan and Anakin, and it's political and military chief for the last decade. The Seperatists have lost the man who has been giving them their marching orders for the past 3 years and their political and military figureheads. Will the Republic retreat to lick it's wounds or fight on with a vengance? Will the Seperatists have any motivation to continue the war, or indeed the ability to win it?

Interesting situation, but any answer is going to be pretty speculative. My own guess is that, while the Republic would be rocked by the loss of Palpatine (who had already built a cult of personality around himself as Chancellor), it would be the Separatists who would fall apart first. The Separatist "leaders" were merely puppets and (at least from the novels and films) it appears that Sidious/Dooku/Grievous were the political/strategic brains behind the entire thing. The comments of the Separatist leaders in AotC and LoE suggest that some of them joined the CIS believing there wouldn't even be a full-scale war. With the public loss of Dooku and Grievious (and the unexplained "disappearance" of Sidious), and the fact that the Republic was apparently already pushing the CIS back ("The Outer Rim sieges are going very well"), I could see some of the Separatist factions deciding that they would try to cut individual peace agreements with the Republic in exchange for forgiving war crimes, not imposing reparations, etc.

The Republic also still has the Jedi as military leaders, whereas the Separatists - as far as we can see - have zilch.

Bail Organa or someone like him, perhaps Mon Mothma or Garm bel Iblis gets voted in as new chancellor and it's business as usual for the Republic, the Seppys fall apart in the next few month with no puppet master to pull their strings and they possibly turn on each other.

The Separatists fall apart in fairly short order with no proper leadership and de-Shrouded Jedi presumably using Force precog/future telling to finish their battles more quickly.

I wonder though if the Jedi would ever find the truth about Palpatine or not. Surely they could put two and two together when the old shroud disappears right after good ol' Palpie dies.

Please don't let anyone suggest that Palpatine would use his uber force powers to shield himself against the explosion because that would be just a tad stupid.

Yeah, I don't want any copouts. To remove all the SOD stuff, somehow, around the beginning of ep.3 Dooku, Palpy, Obi, Ani and the General all bite the dust, although I suppose Obi and Ani really don't matter to this scenario. Maybe the Venator broadsided the Hand a bit early or something, I don't really care.

I honestly just wanted to allude to the Executor's demise and the Battledroid banter. :)

Palpatine might still have his clones on Byss, we don't know when he started those up. Perhaps he comes back fifteen years later and founds "....the first Galactic Empire..".

Jesus Christ Trooper, have you ever heard of obeying the spirit and not the letter of the law?

The clones all died because someone forgot to change their bathwater or something!

Edit:

AFAICS, there are 3 conclusions they can come to:
1) Dooku was fibbing
2) Palpy was Sidious
3) Sidious was somehow killed during the invasion

What? :?:

Forget the fucking clones, the idea of the premise is that Palpy, Dooku and Grevious bite the dust at the start of Ep.3, magical and wankworthy regeneration methods notwithstanding.

Those methods are canon, regardless of what you think of them. And more than likely, both sides would basically dissolve into chaos and the JEdi and uncorrupted (relatively) senators would try to restore order, though not very succesfully. Palpatine, Obi, and Ani kept the Republic fighting, they were the inspiration for the whole war effort. THe Republic might just open negotiations with the CIS before they realize that the CIS is falling apart too.

I personally doubt that Palpy had Byss operational during the pre-Empire days; For a start, the Supreme Chancellor suddenly heading off for the Deep Core and returning 4 decades younger might seem a tad suspicious. For another thing, I really doubt the Senate was so enfeebled that it wouldn't notice the funds required to set up the Byss installation and wonder exactly what was more important than the war. But I digress. This being my scenario, I get to say what happens. Q did it, OK? Whatever it takes for a quiet life.

Okay, so Palpy is dead for sure? And Obi, Anakin, and Dooku can't communicate from the grave, right?

Palpatine didn't even know the secret of life transferance until a few years before Yavin. His clone facility on Byss was set up around the time of ANH.

Really? Where is that mentioned? It makes sense I guess.

Thank you Sharky. I will name my firstborn after you.

Given that none of the above know the Force Ghost technique, no, no post-death communication.

Okay, Then, I would go with the galaxy dissolving into chaos and anarchy for decades until someone reunites it under a dictatorship (the only good short term, easily formed, government). The Hutt crime lords reign supreme in the underworld and in the general area of post-endor Hutt space. THe Geonosians conquer system after system after completeing the great weapon.

[Vader] You underestimate the power of bureaucratic inertia. [/Vader]

What?

There are Imperial governers already in charge of sectors. The Empire is there in all but name. The senate is basically powerless as a result of its own security measures. All they needed to form the Empire was the announcment and order66. Maybe Palpatine had it so that in the event of his death, Order 66 would happen. Just to inflict some damage from beyond the grave.

ANd I think we are forgetting the CIS leadership council.

And despite all this centralised power, it still takes Palpy 19 more years to dissolve the Senate. Right.

'Maybe' is also pretty worthless here.

Also, the Jedi Council believed that Dooku's death would be enough to sue for peace, and Grevious's enough to seal the coffin.

I don't think we can take the Jedi's evaluations as accurate. THe maybe is worthless, I just thought it was a possibility, it sounds like Palpatine. It takes him that long to perfect and build the DS and its prototypes, I don't think it was an accident that the senate was dissolved right when the DS went operational.

The power that the Senate once had is all concentrated in Palpatines hand, once that fist holding power is released the power goes back to the senators, with the Jedi and the Clone Army watching to make sure no-one else makes a grab, with no Sith Lord blinding the Jedi the Grand Army will have warning about any grab for power.

And they reported to whom? They where puppets for Palpatine, under normal circumstances they couldn't agree on the colour of shite and with no Palpatine to guilde them they'll be at each others throat in a week. Dooku wasn't even cold in his grave when Nute Gunray was questioning General Grevious's place as leader.
