Some GAR stuff

Ok this ain't really EP3 related stuff, but
We can see what the development of Clonetrooper helmet and armor is (AOTC-Commando-ROTS) look wise and possibly overall design wise as well
Also I calculated that assuming that there (only) 501 Legions in the Grand Army of the Republic and there's 9000 men in one legion there's 4509000 clones (at least (501000 for 10000 men per legion), think that pretty well destroys the 1 unit=1 trooper theory as all these number are more then 1200000 troopers and this excluding the fleets.

I think the reference to the million units meant a million legions. Although, I think the EU destroyed that theory well enough on its own.

common sence destroyed that theory long time ago, but the EU held to until recent

Which EU sources supported it?

several Clone Wars novels (including LoE IIRC)
EDIT: and they don't suggest, they outright say that the Republic has only 1200000 clones.

That's stupid.

On the 1 unit = 1 trooper issue, I concur that the EU has burdened us with it (LoE is very explicit on that point). My own theory, based on the dialogue in AotC, was that 1 unit = 1 battalion. (Lama Su said "Two hundred thousand units are ready, with another million well on the way." Later, Taun We said, "Tell your Council the first battalions are ready.") At approximately 500 men per battalion (including support personnel), that would have given 100,000,000 clones to start. A much more credible force for a multi-quadrillion inhabitant Galaxy.

Just ignore the EU references; they physically cannot be right. Perhaps they refer to ARCs or specific elite troops.

I prefer the "1 unit = 1 batallion" explanation, as we still must take into account the fact that Lama Su was referring to there being 1.2 million units of regular clone troopers. The ARCs were not even revealed to the Jedi until 2 months after Geonosis, and there were only 100 of the original Alpha-series ARCs.

Would that have included the clone Commandos (like Delta squad)?
