About Palpatine's abduction

- Did Dooku know Palpatine was Sidious? I think he only realised it when Palpy ordered Anakin to kill him

- Obviously, Palpatine was important enough to send a whole fleet to Coruscant with both Grievous and Dooku on the flagship. Is there any logical explanation why that Venator starts blowing up the ship while Palpatine is still onboard?

The VD credits the mistake to a communication error.

"Captain Needa never was too smart."

Could you explain more about the Dooku - Sidious relationship? Its all a bit weird to me.
What was Dooku's motive to team up with Sidious?
Why does he tell Obi-Wan that the Republic is under influence of a Sith Lord?
What take the trouble of abducting Palpatine?
How can Sidious be Dooku's master? I tought Yoda was and Darth Maul was the apprentice of Sidious

A- Could you explain more about the Dooku - Sidious relationship? Its all a bit weird to me.
B- What was Dooku's motive to team up with Sidious?
C-Why does he tell Obi-Wan that the Republic is under influence of a Sith Lord?
D-What take the trouble of abducting Palpatine?
E-How can Sidious be Dooku's master? I tought Yoda was and Darth Maul was the apprentice of Sidious
B- probably power and the fact that he thought that the republic and jedi wore hopelessly corrupted and stagnant.
C-He wanted to make Obi-Wan turn, Obi would probably have sensed him lying so he merely omitted details in his "join me" speech.
D- the "plan" was to kill Obi-Wan and "capture" Dooku while converting Anakin, who would appear as a hero. Sisious had a different plan however
E- YODA? , Also Maul was dead, there was a limit of 2 sith at the same time  , Sidious needed a new apprentice.

Set the universe to rights, create an Empire of Man
Why does he tell Obi-Wan that the Republic is under influence of a Sith Lord?
To mess with Obi-Wan's mind and make him a seperatist tool.
What take the trouble of abducting Palpatine?
Palpatine told him to.
How can Sidious be Dooku's master? I tought Yoda was and Darth Maul was the apprentice of Sidious
Dooku was a jedi master, and a Sith apprentice.

Yes but after Dooku left the order he hooked up with Sidious, also theres no reason that he shouldnt take another master.

Darth Sidious was the Sith master. Darth Tyranus (Dooku) was the Sith apprentice.
wautd wrote:What was Dooku's motive to team up with Sidious?
It's possible that he merely wanted the corrupt Republic to be dismantled, and a new government formed.
However, it's likely that Tyranus also now hates his former Order because of their subservience to the Republic, and (like his new master) intends the total destruction of the Jedi Order. The scorn in his voice when he declares to Yoda that he is now "more powerful than any Jedi" suggests this.
wautd wrote:Why does he tell Obi-Wan that the Republic is under influence of a Sith Lord?
I'm not certain whether he intended to turn Obi-Wan into a pawn to further the Sith's goals, or whether he intended to destroy Sidious and take Obi-Wan as his apprentice.
Recall that it's standard Sith procedure for the apprentice to destroy his master and become the new master.
wautd wrote:What take the trouble of abducting Palpatine?
I'm fairly certain that this is answered in a novel (that I haven't read!).
If I'm not mistaken, Palpatine felt the Jedi were getting too close to the truth, and he felt the need to escape Coruscant under suitable pretext. It didn't work out that way, but instead he made way for his new apprentice, and by getting captured, made himself an even bigger hero in the eyes of the populace.

That's due to the shock of the moment, when realiation dawned upon him that the purpose for the charade was so that Anakin would replace him as the Sith aprentice.

Dooku knew, in the novelization he even has a conversation with Sidous, who is then revealed to be a shackled Palpatine.
