Did The Naberriés know of Padmé's wedding?

Is there anything in any books that I've missed that says that Padmé's family knew that she was married to Anakin? If there isn't any EU sources on that, in your opinions did they know?

There was a certain aspect of the last scene on Naboo with the Naberriés that didn't sit well with me. Is it unfavorable in the eyes of Naboo society to have a baby out of wedlock, and if that is so and they don't know if she married, then wouldn't they be walking with great shame or at the very least some tinge of disappointment towards Padmé in that scene?

They didn't know. I'm not sure what they thought of her pregnancy.

I'm wondering why no one at all got wind of Padme's pregnancy or her 'affair' with Anakin. There is a fairly prolific media in the Star Wars universe after all, complete with the usual tabloids and such. Han and Leia's premarital problems were the main news story for awhile, and known in detail to people as far away as Tatooine.

Perhaps the war preempted the paparazzi's hunt for stars.

I would guess that over the centuries the Republic's media outlets have learned to keep a respectful distance from anything that resembles a scandal involving the Jedi. If you think the Bush administration's press conferences involve softballs, imagine a Jedi press conference:

Journalist: "Master Windu! Master Windu! This is Finky Retts of HoloNet News! I have a question concerning the ongoing rumors about a prominent Jedi being romantically involved with a Senator!"

*Mace waves hand*

Mace: You don't have any questions.

Journalist: I don't have any questions.

*Mace waves hand*

Mace: You want to quit the high pressure news game and write sentient interest stories about spice-addicted children for an alt-weekly in the Outer Rim.

Journalist: I'd like to announce that I'm quitting the high pressure news game to leave for the Outer Rim, where I'll be taking a post at an alt-weekly to write sentient interest stories about spice-addicted children.

*Journalist closes datapad and leaves room*

Mace: If no one else has any questions, this press conference is over.

The Paparazzi existed in the NR, i doubt it existed in the Empire or Palpatine's "Republic".

Palpatine might have "told" the press to look the other way to keep Anakin's and Padme's relationship a secret.

That and the fact, that a war was going on. I mean there would be stories much more interesting from the killing-fields, than the misbehavior of a certain senator.

In the RotS Novelization, Padme worries about Holo-net crews seeing her and Anakin when they greet eachother at the Senate, and then later when Anakin is out on the balcony of Padme's apartment. So the paparazzi does exist.

However, we also know from LoE and the Novelization, that recent legislation passed by Congress has given Palaptine "wide-ranging powers over Coruscant" and he may have been able to substantially weaken the paparazzi because of that (he would certainly have good reason to, the less free press there is to poke and prod around his government the better, note that the press is usually one of the first things nationalized when a dictator takes over)

It seems that Padme is aware of a lesser press presence (at least non-government sanctioned press), in that, in RotS, she and Anakin meet relatively out in the open, whereas, in the CWC season III, they meet in the dangerous underlevels of Coruscant in disguises to prevent recognition.

This suggests that the press has lost significant freedom on Coruscant in the months between that CWC episode and RotS, which coincides with Bail Organa's distinction in LoE just a few weeks before the Battle of Coruscant that Palaptine has been essentially given dictatorial powers over Coruscant.

Like the misbehaviour of republic Generals who are siphoning off expensive medicine from his command to black sun...

The Medstar books feature a reporter.
