Under the pen name "George Lucas," Alan Dean Foster wrote Star Wars.
I read this on a website, it looked legit.
George Lucas is a pen name? You gotta be kiding me! I mean, this is a joke, right?

He ghost wrote the novelization IIRC, but not the script.

Foster is also sort of like the father of the Expanded Universe. When he wrote the novelizations, the movies were released yet and many things were removed from the movie, but not the book. And this uncut info expanded the Star Wars universe a bit.

Uh, Foster wrote the Star Wars novelization from Lucas' third draft screenplay. He didn't write the other novelizations. His only contribution to the EU is "Splinter Of The Mind's Eye" and "The Approaching Storm."
There's a HUGE rumor that he named Luke SKYWALKER, (which was still Starkiller at that point) but he won't confirm or deny that one.

Hrm, just wondering, how many more drafts were there before the finalized script?

Wow.. how close was the movie to actually being filmed before Starkiller was changed to Skywalker?

I'm going to start a thread with the title "Hey... question..."
I'm curious, though.. what was the original title of this thread anyway?

I believe the fourth draft was the final one.

Well, according to "Star Wars: The Annotated Screenplays", it went something like this:
Adventures of the Starkiller Episode 1:
The Star Wars, January 28, 1975
From the Adventures of Luke Starkiller as taken from the "Journal of the Whills."
SAGA 1: The Star Wars, January 1, 1976- fourth draft
The Adventures of Luke Starkiller as taken from the "Journal of the Whills."
Saga 1: The Star Wars, January 1, 1976- fourth draft
The Adventures of Luke Starkiller as taken from the "Journal of the Whills."
Saga 1: The Star Wars, March 15, 1976- revised fourth draft

Those early drafts are fun to read. The Starkiller brothers, Luke, Deak, Annikin (notice spelling), Biggs, etc. Instead of Jedi vs Sith, you have Jedi Bendu vs. Bogan. The Force is known as the Force of Others. Stormtroopers with lightsabers. Squadron callsigns, Bantha Leader, Bantha Two, etc. Tatooine's name was Utapau then. Alderaan is the Galactic capital.
