SW Cinematic Doomsday Scenario

Post by Darth Fanboy »

Suppose the abmoinable happened and Lucas caved in to a Fox Studios request to REMAKE THE ORIGINAL TRILOGY (listens as die hard warsies fall dead, rightfully so).

Lots of fans are pissed off, the only consolation is that Lucas will listen to fan input on what they would like included in the new remakes, but he does not necessairly have to go along with them.

Things that must be involved in this "unnatural" OT:

-The actors from the PT must portray their characters on screen if their characters are still present, except for Darth Vader, which will be a guy in a suit coupled with James Earl Jones.

-Jar Jar Binks must appear in at least one episode

-The otucome of the story cannot be changed, which means the Empire cannot live for a billion years and become The Culture prior to invading the Federation.

-the Rebels must destroy the Death Star at Yavin, Darth Vader and Luke must duel on Bespin, the Rebels must be victorious at Endor

Dsicuss, that is if you haven't had a stroke yet after comprehending this apocalyptic scenario.
"If it's true that our species is alone in the universe, then I'd have to say that the universe aimed rather low and settled for very little."
-George Carlin (1937-2008)

"Have some of you Americans actually seen Football? Of course there are 0-0 draws but that doesn't make them any less exciting."
-Dr Roberts, with quite possibly the dumbest thing ever said in 10 years of SDNet.

My one input will be that we have a shot of Jar-Jar on Aldeeran, looking up at the sky and saying "ooohh... Wassa that?" Right before they fire the superlaser.

As long as they do that I'm sure the rest of the trilogy will be bearable.

A New Hope
-I don't think Jar Jar should be on Alderaan. His presence and comedic death could weaken the tragedy of the planet's destruction. Also, for the Death Star to be visible from the surface, its firing range would have to be severely nerfed. No, I think Jar Jar should be choked alongside Captain Antilles on the Tantive IV.

-Speaking of the Tantive IV, there will either be a throwaway line about how this isn't the first ship with that name, or the ship's appearance will be altered to match its appearance in ROTS.

-Biggs is seen briefly before Yavin, and it's made clear that he and Luke are friends. When Biggs is killed, Luke shows more emotion and grief.

-Greedo does NOT shoot first.

-In the Death Star's conference room, Motti/Tagge/Tarkin will mention Death Star prototypes, and how this new battlestation is the culmination of decades of research, testing, and refinement. This fixes up the continuity errors with the ROTS Death Star.

-Leia's parents, as seen in ROTS, will get a couple brief appearances, with makeup to make them appear older. We get a few brief glimpses of Alderaan before it's destroyed.

-The Vader/Obi-wan duel gets updated to more closely resemble the PT duels. The two of them don't have to be flipping around, but I think the duel could be done better with modern technology.

-A couple older fighters like ARC-170s are seen in the Yavin hangar.

-The Battle of Yavin gets updated effects, and is slightly expanded. A few more X-wings get blown up by TIEs, just to show the dumbass fans or EU writers that TIEs aren't worthless pieces of crap.

The Empire Strikes Back
-The Battle of Hoth gets major updates (no more obvious stop action walkers). A wide variety of Imperial ground vehicles, such as the walkers stated in the book Inside the Worlds of the Star Wars Trilogy, and the AT-AP are seen.

Return of the Jedi
-Endor is said to be a Wookiee colony world that was subjugated by the Empire (ROTS made it clear that Kashyyk is an important strategic world, so it can't be used). Wookiees replace the Ewoks.

-It's made clear that the entire legion of the Emperor's "best troops" is not at the back door.

-Some shots of the Home One that more clearly show its size are added in.

-The Imperial fleet at Endor is much bigger and varied. We see the Communications Ship, more of the bayless Star Destroyer, and possibly some Star Battlecruisers.

ANH

Show more of the galaxy, other planets with Imps subjugating the peoples of Kashyyyk, Calamari, and Ithor, to show more diversity in location.

ROTJ

The rescue of Han has some bearing on Han's character development and the Endor battle somehow. Originally it seems that the Tatooine sequence is just Han's rescue and Jabba's death, and that's that.

Show Wookiee slaves building DS2. Some of them help Luke get off the DS2, after Palpatine's death. There might even be Wookiee prison camps on Endor, which might give Chewbacca something to work with, dramatically. He leaves Han's side against orders to save the prisoners there, but when Han & his team is cornered, Wookiees and Ewoks, both under Chewie's command, come to the rescue.

Wasn't the DS2 to be constructed over Kasshyyk(sic!) in the original screenplay? That'd make a damn lot more sense, as well as being way better. Screw teddybears, let's go slave wookie uprising, mmm?

Actually, building the DS2 over Kashyyk makes no sense at all. Put yourself in the perspective of the Emperor, "Should I build my new secret Death Star over the strategically important world of the giant incredibly capable Wookies or in a backwater system with no advanced civilization?"

I mean he was pretending to build the DS2 in secret, so a major star system is out. And why on Earth would he want to build a shield generator on a planet of subjugated Wookies? No, the teddy bears just make sense to me. Who is afraid of an Ewok?
"Our people were meant to be living gods, warrior-poets who roamed the stars bringing civilization, not cowards and bullies who prey on the weak and kill each other for sport. I never imagined they'd prove themselves so inferior. I didn't betray our people – they betrayed themselves."

Why bother with organic slave labour at all? Droids should be overall cheaper, better workers, easier to gather in secret, and less likely to revolt.

What purpose would this serve? The intent was to destroy the Moon using the Death Star, not waste resources with a ground assault. Besides, what assets did they have in the system at the moment besides the Death Star?
3.the saber duel on the DS acutely will be comparable to the ones in the other movies in believability.
Why was it unbelievable?
4.The emperor at the meeting on the DS via hologram
Totally unnecessary.
6.star destroyers guarding the DS
Why?
2.the wampas kill there share of stormies
Because the wampas played an important role in the battle.
4.some Acclamators in the fleet
Why have 20-year-old troop barges present when you can do better with ImpStars and the Executor?
5.some battle droids during the battle of Hoth
Why? The Imperial Army doesn't use battle droids to nearly the same extent the CIS did.
6.Thrawn in command of a star destroyer
To what end?
1.Ewoks are tough looking badias’s not cute Tedybearish badias’s
You mean just like potentially dangerous chimpanzees don't look cute?
2.mutipl super star destroyers
To what end? One command ship isn't enough?
3.the emperor light saber fights a small bit and then electrocutes Luke
Completely unnecessary.
4.camouflaged stormies on Endour
Agreed.
6.the executer is destroyed by Home one not a god damn A-wing
It wasn't destroyed by an A-wing.

Myself, I would change little, if anything, to the storyline. The biggest changes would be in effects shots. Lots of model shots would be replaced by CG, especially at Endor. And if it's possible, I wouldn't be completely against the idea of replacing the stormtroopers with motion-capture CG versions.

Of course, if these things were to come to pass, I'd like to see the original films released in DVD format. The edits described above would work for a version of the trilogy that's meant to fit with the prequels. I'd like to have the unedited releases to see them in their own right.

Because two Death Stars is a bit contrived, save the Death Star for the last movie, and have some other threat in the first movie.

I'd have it the other way round. That way Alderaan still gets blown up and there's a threat against the rebels base. Since the DS2 doesn't do much other than vape a few Rebel ships, something else could have been used there. Maybe a Galaxy Gun?

ANH, DS-battle: "You have to hit those shielded TIEs more than once."

TESB: Have the Executor not only escorted by ISDs, but by a Star Cruiser half its size, too.

ROTJ (beginning, Vader leaves for Endor): Show a major shipyard, with thousands of warships.

ROTJ: Executor -after destroying a number of MC-Cruisers with single volleys - is destroyed by Ackbar ramming HomeOne into her.

ROTJ: More (obvious) diversity for the ImperialFleet.

ROTJ: partly industrialized surface of Endor - Wookiee-slaves - fighting not only in the jungle.

ROTJ: Leia completely naked and having lesbian sex with Oola ... . Oh wait.

Diversity in the Imperial fleet would be nice, but I doubt they'd come to pass, given non-SoD explanations. For the same reason you only see Venator class ships making up the Republic fleet in RotS, the filmmakers seem determined to show the Republic/Empire as a monolithic-uniform entity, with practically no diversity.

That said, a humpback cruiser with the Executor would kick ass, as would seeing some other dagger-shaped ships at Endor (Victory and Enforcer class, for example).

ANH: Show the surface of Alderaan before it is destroyed to increase the sense of tragdey.

ANH: Yes, yes the Greedo thing.

ESB: Improve battle effects on Hoth.

ESB: Slightly expanded Boba Fett role would be good.

ROTJ: Throwaway line mentioning or showing Pellaeon at some point.

ROTJ: Improve the Endor ground battle (fix rank insignias, disregard or change the "best troops" line, show camo troopers, show a few more Ewok casualties, etc.)

Just minor changes, a serious redo would be deplorable.

the only thing I'd in addition nit fixing is show more of rebellion during ROTJ (so that doesn't seem that both side stopped everything and went to Endor).

Yes, perhaps a bit more rebellion and a bit less celebration at the end. I have the image of a bunch of wookiees trashing an imperial garrison and tipping the imperial insignia over stuck in my head. It would be cool to see, and would fit into the timeline better, but it might not work thematically.

That might work if there are a few Imperials under the Insignia as it toppled.

I figure a bigger Rebel force at Hoth, more casualities.

Put Han in charge of the starfighters. He led a successful defense of Nar Shaddaa against the Imperials. He knows what he's doing.

A background shot of Jar Jar getting beaten to death by a stormtrooper platoon.

More smugglers and pirates fighting with the Rebels. Han can not be the only one and Lando doesn't count anymore.

Rogue Squadron in action.

Footage already exists of Biggs and Luke talking on Tatooine. There are 2 scenes. One, when Luke goes into a building at Anchorhead and sees Biggs. Luke tells him and some other people about the shooting he's witnessed (from the ground, with his macrobinoculars) between the corvette and the ISD. They all go outside to look, using his binoculars, but the shooting has stopped by this time.

Later, outside, Biggs tells Luke how he plans to join the Alliance.

It's too bad this wasn't included with the SE ANH.

If you have the old Behind The Magic CD, you can watch this scene on disc 2.
