It is real.
There will probably be a live action series (Probably between ROTS and ESB or ANH, without featuring the main characters of the movies) and another all CGI series (That will probably be about the clone wars), the actors are not confirmed yet and they will not be started any earlier than 06 at least.

Also try to use a spellchecker, please.

Note that thread titles have to be descriptive in future.

The SW TV show has been confirmed, it will start sometime in 2006 apparently (shooting, probably) and will be set in between Episode III and IV, involving "minor" characters.

So the CW cgi series was just a rumour?
odd, are you sure or was it simply not confirmed or has an unknown schedule?

One CGI Clone Wars series and one live action series in between ROTS and ANH. Probability of more if they are successfull.

How would a live action TV show fit in to the canon scale. Would it be equal to the movies, just below them or relegated to sub novel.

Also I really really hope they do it right. This TV show will either be the best or worst thing that could happen the starwars since it was first made in to a movie.

I couldn't say it better myself.

Edit: Actually, I'd say "first" instead of "fist", but aside from that, I couldn't say it better myself.

Any TV series would be EU and thus C-canon, but since Lucas appears to hint at "starting the series himself", I´m guessing he´ll direct a couple of episodes and they would be G-canon.

There is a good chance that the animated one will show up on Cartoon Network, the other could be Sci-Fi

What the hell does that mean? Certainly, Scifi is full of crappy shows, and they cancel all too many good ones, but they've put put a hell of a lot of good shows. Fascape, Neo-BSG, Chronicle, Stargate, just to name a few.

Ahem...Sci-fi is the home of Stargate: SG-1 and Stargate: Atlantis. It's also currently the home of Farscape, if I remember correctly, as well as Battlestar Galactica (which I haven't seen, but have heard good things about).

As long as you steer clear of Scifi's in-house movies (Alien Apocalypse...eeeeeerugh....), it's a pretty good channel. They're very good at TV, just not movies.

Sci-Fi wouldn't dare kill it. Lucas'll probably of course demand creative control to protect the franchise, and Sci-Fi would love the viewership it'd attract. Compared to other shows they've picked up, it's good business sense, even if it'll have a higher budget requirement probably.

Perhaps the only thing that may stop them is that it'd draw attention away from their friday lineup of SG-1, SGA and BSG... unless they're intending to replace SG-1 with it. *sob*

I doubt they are, but a SW series over the weekend would be a way to at least have a break from a bunch of their crappy made-for-tv movies.

My main problem with Sci-fi is that most of their *good* shows are produced outside the channel or started outside; Stargate is an example there. I don't know about Farscape, but IIRC that wasn't originally an Sci-fi show either (unless the channel that produced it was an predecessor of Sci-Fi).

However, I will concede that my reaction was mainly based upon their reputation with me of late; too many shit movies, not enough good material for me to trust their capabilities with this. They might luck out-- and they might not...

Don't be sorry. Just improve your grammar and spelling. We have a rule about posting in these kinds of mangled versions of English.
