Has anyone seen I.M.P.S -The Relentless?

Its a fan film that documents the perspective of the Imperial soldier (stormtrooper and others). It stands for Imperial Military Personnel Stories. The Relentless is the Star Destroyer they're stationed on.

Originally, it was supposed to the sequel to the popular fan film "Troops", but it eventually evolved into something different altogether. The first installment was made available on May 2005. There will be additional chapters every 4-6 weeks. When all chapters are finished, it will form a complete feature-length film.

I just saw it now and it pretty much blew me away. I'm not into fan films all that much, but this one was very well-done. By far, the best I've seen yet. You can download Chapter 1 and the teaser trailer at http://theforce.net/fanfilms/shortfilms/imps/index.asp

Their main website is: http://www.impstherelentless.com/

Check it out!

Their was an old thread made about it a few months back just a bit before the first ep was released i think. Ive been keeping an eye on it ever since then and have been eagerly awaiting episode 2.

They have a spot on their site where you can sign up to be mailed when Chapter 2 is released.

I'm really looking forward to it.

I was hoping the new SW TV show would be like this, maybe without the humor, but along the same lines anyway.

Spolierized comments:
The chick Stormtrooper was an unexpected twist.

The POV of IMPS is from the Empire's perspective, so I don't think that;s likely to happen. :(

I would, if not for hideous slowdown. I hate my PC.

It's been over two months since episode one came out, sadly, so their 4-6 weeks prediction was horrendously off.

Saw it, and it sucked quite hard.

It's OK for a fanfilm, were people generally don't expect too much, so thing like obvious CGI aren't so bad as in a true official SW production.

Although the fact that the filmmakers didn't seem to know what a ship making the jump to lightspeed looked like kinda pissed me off.

I thought that the intro shots were pretty good. It gives the feel of power and majesty over the Imperial war machine.

That aside it was as if the film makers had never realised that it would have probably been much more simple to do the regular Star Wars hyperspace affects.

yeah it pissed me off too, but it was such minor point it really didn't matter that much in the end.

To be fair, i think they made a comment about the Relentless' battle group being special (and hence worthy of documentation?) because of some advanced hyperspace thingy. I didn't catch it on the first viewing though, and that scene annoyed me a bit too, along with the bright green engines and some other ultimately negligible stuff.

Hopefully the time they're taking on episode 2 is well worth it.

Advanced Navigation system (but then The Falcon also better Navigation systems then most ships yet has the normal hyperspce effect.)

EDIT:also is that Walker suppose to be an AT-ST?

I'm not really that fond of the whole "Star Destroyer sandwich" thing that the Relentless has going for herself. It just looks really ugly, which is a shame because without the second bridge tower on the bottom, it's a cool ship design.

yeah, but did notice that without that bridge it looks a lot like the Doomgiver (admiral Galak Fayar's flagship from Jedi Outcast).

The Falcon uses normal hyperdrives tweaked to the max. The Relentless uses a slightly newer form of hyperdrive. No real contradiction.

Does anyone else get slowdown on it, even after defragging the PC?

Alright. The way you said it made it seem like you thought that was some kind of problem.

I liked Relentless. For a fanfilm it was quite funny, and the special effects while gratituous ultimately had their place in the story.

And I found the doubled bridges made sense. On a supercarrier you'd want more systems dedicated to flight control.

I also was annoyed by the hyperspace jump fx. It looked too similar to B5's jump points, and that detracted from the "Star Wars-y" feel. Another factor that kept annoying me was the complete absence of established blaster fire sound fx. Also no probe droid noises, Lambda shuttle engines, and other canon sound fx were present.

Overall, I enjoyed it though.

That Walker was seen in a few of the comics.

Did any one notice that an E-Wing was flying through the city scape?

I personaly liked how the walkers, shuttles, and cap ships had custom paint jobs. It makes it feel as if the Imperial fleet is run by real people.
