Did the Advanced Recon Commando corp survive into the Imperial (aka OT) era or did it get disbanded and/or merged with the Storm Commandos (the Imperial equilevant of Clone Commandos).

I don't think so. The Storm Commandos were created by General Crix Madine by order of the Emperor shortly before his defection to the Alliance. His orders were to create a stormtrooper commando unit that would be capable of engage in the kind of missions that Alliance Special Forces commandos routinely pulled off with much success against the Empire.

As to what became of the ARCs, I have no clue.

I would say yes they are still around. All the crap we have from the EU was made up well before the clone wars were ever writen about so we really wouldnt get any of the full Imperial inventory until now.

If we go on the line of thinking that the EU dosent mention it then we would also asume that the Empire dosent use the LAATs or the AT-TEs or any other form of weaponry developed during the Clone Wars.

The ARC troopers were very affective through out the Clone Wars and the Emperpor isnt the kind of guy to say no to an effective form of killing thuse my feelings for the ARC program survival.

AS a note, there was a AT-TE modified as a transport vehicle seen in a recent Empire comic.

So because Navy SEALs exist, there's no reason to create the Green Berets or Delta Force?

I think that the point he was making is that the Empire seems to have not had a special forces units active at the time, and so it seems that there wasn't any. Not that the use of one type precludes another.

But I had thought that they stoped with training ARC's when Jango got beheaded.

I think the ARC trooper Alpha started training officers and new ARCs.

The Storm Commandos were an anti rebel commando group kind of like the modern anti terrorist units in real life.

The ARC could had been disbanded, just like how the SAS were in 1946.

Didn't they stop manufacturing ARCs even before they started producing Republic Commandos?

Recall that ARCs differ in their genetic tweaking.. not just in training.

first generation ARC yeah, but there seems to be indication that they restarted the production of ARC later and with Imperial (or Strom) ARC the difference would probaly just the training.

That sounds plausible. However, wouldn't the Emperor prefer commandos that do have dociltiy and obedience modification?

ARCs were created basically with the first batches of the clones, activated around 30 years before Ep IV. Due to their accelerated aging, any ARC who had been active the whole time would be 40 years old, and aged like an 80 year old.

I think aside from training commanders, they were simply considered too independent to be fielded after the start of the war.

nope, there's a ARC called Valiant in LoE.
