They were ordered to evacuate the structure after the cruiser had been destroyed. Clone Commandos can't disobey direct orders.

Have you played the game, by any chance? There was this whole bit with:

"We can't leave him behind!"
"You have to."
"I don't care if this order came from Master Yoda himself, we-"
"As a matter of fact, it did."

Or somesuch.

What I really want to know; Is there any news of a sequel?

Republic...I mean Imperial Commando, of course. ;)

Yeah, and then there was the hologram of Yoda talking about sacrifice while they were on the LAAT, and the game finished off with RC-1138: Commandos! Lock and load!

But why exactly did they have to leave right that instant?

For the openning scene of Imperial Commando!!!!!

You do want to find out what happens after the cliffhanger, don't you?

Hopefully Imperial Commando will be better than Republic Commando.

Do we have any definite word on Imperial Commando yet? Because I wanted it to be in OT era, not right after Empire Day.

Wasn´t that game cancelled or a false rumor?

They had to leave the structure without Sev because the order told them to move out immediately. Sev was no longer in the structure; to retrieve him, they would have had to pursue his captors. They weren't even sure if he was dead or alive.

I suspect that even though Delta-62 appeared to be reluctant to leave Sev behind, he would actually have been incapable of disobeying orders due to his "programming", or whatever. It matters not how exactly such a mechanism would manifest itself in his mind; in the end, the squad did obey their orders, and left Sev behind.
It isn't really a cliffhanger per se. It's written to show you the unswerving loyalty, the inability to disobey orders, of the Republic's clone soldiers.

Gaffe: If you whip out your sniper attachment, you can see that Sev is still sitting in the turbolaser turret, which is visible from the gun emplacement that you had manned.

As far as I can tell, Imperial Commando is a rumor that has no origin in any official statements. Feel free to search for any information to prove me wrong, though; I myself would be glad to know.
The only "sequel" of sorts is Republic Commando: Order 66, which is a little 2D Java game written for mobile devices.

We're joking, you silly Ruskie. Republic Commando 2 can't really be called Republic Commando, since the Republic wouldn't exist by that point (The first game ends just before the Battle of Kashyyk).

On a related note, there *is* an Imperial Commando in SW, called the Storm Commando.

Yes, that's the part I'm getting at. Was the building being bombed or something? Since surely they weren't the only 3 commandos on the planet and were the only ones who could do some sort of special mission in time (TOS Enterprise syndrome).

EDIT: Or was this just an illustration that the Republic was now the Empire, and the doctrine of sacrifice was being used here (ignoring that a clone commando is far more valuable than a rank and file trooper)?

The impression I got was that they were needed *Right then* for the rendevous with Yoda and the subsequent mission. The fact that he says "Much now relies on Delta Squad" or "All our hopes now rest with Delta Squad" or something similar indicates to me that yes, they *are* the only Commandos on Kash-lotsa-ys-k.

the "building" was under attack (you can hear blaster fire), by a probaly a probing force sent before the main assault across the Lagoon (the city is the same as in ROTS)

A reason isn't necessery. Yoda could have just fucked up. Again. What with being a teacher, not a general.

Sorry, the first game ends a year before ROTS. Read the dates in Republic Commando and look at the shis over the city. Those are Acclamators, Yoda only took one ship to Kashyyk.

Alyeska is right, I just checked and the last mission starts 785 days after Geonosis (or 2 years 1 month and 25 days after Geonosis), so unless the Kashyyk missions last for 10 months there's room for a second game before the empire.

I'm just gonna point out there have been massive shifts in the CW timeline lately, particularily in the end stages prior to ROTS. the game might have been shuffled around.

Indeed, the Epilogue is clearly intended to take place as Master Yoda arrives during the events of RotS.

Continuing on Ender's note, if the Venator design had been finished by LucasFilm by the time Republic Commando was being made, the devs would probably would've meshed and skinned a Venator and popped it in the sky for the epilogue scene.

That's all SoD aside, of course.

Stop proving me wrong, dammit! :P
