And just so people remember, this isn't some kind of "best of" book. It's basically all four complete books merged into one single volume at 176 pages. And while the MSRP is $39.99 (twice the MSRP for the regular ICS and ITWs), Amazon currently has it for reserve for $26.39.

Frankly, I'm just really hoping that they include spots on the galactic map for the OT planets that were skipped, since the OT ITW didn't have one.

It'd be relly nice there was a galactic map with a scale on it as well, to help get concrete figures for Hyperdrive speeds.

There actually is a scale on the map. It just doesn't do all the work for you. :P

I just wish they add the Imperial fleet on Endor, enough with the fucking Death Stars.

A fleet isn't a location. :P

Then why did they do a vignette on the army compositions in AOTC, smartass? :P

Besides, I got the info from Saxton, it was cut due to further emphasis on the, wait for it... Death Star II.

Puke. But then, remember, sometimes obscurity is an advantage. Saxton didn't write this. The pool of truly competent people in LFL is abysmally low when it comes to things like this. My only hope for them is that they don't write anything stupid on things we care about, like the Imperial Fleet at Endor.

The page mentions "other reference books on the immediate horizon", I thought that they've only mentioned the expanded Locations and the expanded Visual Dictonary? An expanded ICS would be great. Did anyone here attend Comic-Con?

Not required, we have the distance in light years in between various prominent planets from the ITW books already.

Actually, we only have relative distances from the Core, not between each other.

Frankly, I wish they'd do a full-page top-down map. That would make things a lot easier.

I only want nice class-names and some random trivia. If they can find time to mention random Imperial tanks clearing debris in Mos Eisley or a vehicle that tows N-1 fighters around the lower hangar on Naboo, they can find the space to write about two capital ship classes which were actually IN one of the movies.

I noticed that too. The only books that I know of would be the two you already mentioned. It would be nice if they meant a revamped version of the Essential Guides. I've got the original EGWT, but the revised ones are such shit in some details that I don't even really want to buy them. (100 KM max range for turbolasers for instance  )

There's a new Essential Guide to Chronology coming out in the fall (November I believe.)

The only reason I'm going to buy this book is for the Ep. III content... I just hope it's good enough -- but this part interests me:
Track the twisting space battle high over Coruscant.
I wonder what this is going to look like.

I have a feeling that it's going to be just like the previous "new" guides (particularly the character guides) where you technically need both versions to cover everything. Or at least to not have it all be crap.

Hopefully, they´ll devote pages on stuff found in the background of the various CW planets. We might even get a few C-canon objects G-canonized if they play their cards right.

There was a more extensive hyperspace preview, showing glimpses of a few more pages of this book, as well as one piece of art from the New Essential Chronology.

From this, they showed small screen caps of the Battle of Coruscant, Polis Massa, the Wookiee Tree, the Sith Medcentre, and the Mustafar Duel.

Here's Coruscant:

I wonder if there are any little dreadnaughts or carracks somewhere on that sheet. :?
I'd like to see that.

You'd have better luck getting candy to come out of your ass.

Notice at the marker for point (2) or (3), there´s a different type of dagger shaped ship, more like the Star Destroyers of old.

You don´t suppose they actually snuck in a Victory and we just ended up seeing the front of it on-screen? :P

If this battle diagram is an indication, they´d better have a similar one for Endor.

Here are a few pictures from the New Essential Chronology:

The first one is of an ancient battle between Jedi and Sith.

[Copyrighted image removed- DW]

Next one is Battle of Geonosis.

[Copyrighted image removed- DW]

This one is of the stealing of the X-wing prototypes from Incom.

[Copyrighted image removed- DW]

Next one is of the Imperial reprisal of Yavin Base after destruction of the first Death Star.

[Copyrighted image removed- DW]

The last one is of Callista.

This all looks very good. Definitely getting this book.

Um... Order 66, those images don't show up. And when I try to follow the link, it says I need to be a Hyperspace member.

They don't show up at all? I can see it in the post from here, but I'm a HS member. There was a previous HS image that was posted a few replies up (of the Coruscant battle) and apparently several people can see it on the thread. So i dunno. And yeah, you need to be a member to see the pics on the site.

The Coruscant picture was copied and uploaded to Imageshack (note its address) -- thus allowing us to see the picture.
