In ROTS novelization (IIRC) it said By Mace Windu (again IIRC) that the Confereracy of independent system would break down in short order after the death of Count Dooku, is there any evidence of this and just how much effort did Dooku have put into Keeping the separtists unfied.

Also what happend to the CIS fleet after the Clone Wars.

Well we know that Darth Vader sent a signal to deactivate all the droid armies after he killed the leaders on Mustufar, presumabably that included the droid crews of the ships as well.

That is of course happend, but I revise what happend to ships of the CIS fleet, since you got a lot ships that are more or less in working condition and apart of being rather badly designed there's no reason why at least some wouldn't be useble after the war (in some duties).

I imagine they would be seized by the new Empire and either employed as warships until the Imperial Navy was upto snuff or scrapped and recycled into ships for the Navy.

if ask me, I'd sell/give the "true" warships to the sectorial militias/auxilias and convert the Lucrehulks back to full freighters.

Thats possible as well, I'm hoping for an EU novel that'll address it. But seeing as I never read the EU I'll probably miss it.

there's of course the possible TV series that could address it as well (even without it being an important plot point).

Unless they make it important by having an episode centering around the salvage of a derelict CIS warship.

At least according to the RoTS novelization, Dooku was basically the equivalent to Palpatine for the citizens of the CIS- its moral, political, and social center, while Grievous was basically the Big Stick. If you read the AoTC novelization (which, I personally believe, kind of sucks compared to the RoTS novelization except in the battle scenes), Dooku is basically the negotiator who brings the various major groups into the CIS together and unites them under a common banner.

Hadn't the Lucrehulks been sufficiently upgraded by RotS to be fairly capable warships? Obviously they could never be as good as a true warship, and especially they couldn't possibly output as much firepower as a warship of similar volume, but I would think that they could still be used for localized defensive forces or as a command ship.

Seeing has during the Battle of Coruscant, we see Federation ships with the Republic/Imperial Insignia on them, I'd say they were taken over by the Imperial navy until replacement ships were built.

I think you're mistaking the Republic/Imperial insignia with the CIS insignia.

I'm just waiting for something in the EU about someone stumbling across a CIS warship that somehow didn't receive Vader's deactivation signal.
In the meantime, fanfic idea anyone?

Apparently, the CIS shutdown all of the Droid Armies, but, I'm a Fan of "AI Goes a bit Haywire" myself.

The CIS was still holding together under Grievous, so Windu's speculation is obviously wrong. Of course, having Grievous and then their entire leadership slaughtered was a much more crippling blow, and would have probably sunk them even if the droid armies weren't shut down.

Yeah, I'd Imagine, having no leader sort of makes the entire Idea superfluous.

I take back what I said earlier. Dooku's loss would be primarily in the area of prestige and legitimacy for the CIS; it would make recognizing the CIS as an independent government next to impossible. I forgot Sidious's influence as a mysterious power to the Separatist leadership, though; it seems that the leaders of the CIS were aware of his ultimate power, since they were waiting for his new apprentice to arrive.

But, like you said, the CIS DID hold together without Dooku, for at least a few months, since Padme did not look pregnant at the beginning of RoTS, but was on the verge of giving birth at the end, when the entire CIS leadership was slaughtered.

Padme's pregnancy was not apparent at the beginning because she was hiding it. She doesn't want anyone to know that she's pregnant with a Jedi's child. Especially not the child of Republic hero Anakin Skywalker.

ROTS's timeframe is less than a week according to Leland Chee, and from my observations, the majority of the movie takes place over 4 days. So the CIS managed to stay together without Dooku for about 96 hours.

I would be under the assumption that Papy didnt want the CIS to last very long without Dooku thus haveing the CIS fall apart shortly after his death as a precautionary measure. Vader killing all the leaders happended well before the CIS could rip itself apart.

Palpy did this with the Empire.

So, again, had Obi-wan convinced Grievous that the Sith set him up, would he still have main control over the droid armies if he went to Mustafar? I think if Palpatine ultimately had control, he would have used it at any time.

My mistake, then.

True, but if Grievous hadn't been killed, there was no indication that the CIS would fall.

I doubt the local defense forces would be too eager to use the old CIS ships. These things were just as much a symbol of the CIS's military strength as the Droid Armies, and responsible for the BDZ of numerous worlds. I'm guessing they would dredge up a lot of harsh feelings.

Palpatine probably either absorbed them into the Imperial Navy, melted them for scrap, or used them for target practice. I doubt he'd allow the local defense forces to hold onto them unless said defense forces were under the direct control of the Impirial Navy.

first chose sectorial forces wouldn't probaly mind to have any powerfull warship they could get their hands on and Vulture fighters were still in use during the OT era.
