If you were a Jedi in the Star Wars universe, what would be your alignment, and how would you specialize? Would you be good or evil? Would you prefer to use the pure force & throw things around, or prefer straight up melee with your lightsabers?

This probably needs to be in Pure Star Wars, but I voted for pure evil force at the top. I like the idea of being a Palpatine-level schemer.

I'm thinking a mercenary type evil Jedi, that uses pure force powers and a lightsaber for defense and stuff. Mmmmmm, assassin with force powers, sexy.

Pure evil. The force should be used to garner power, and if I have the m4d l1ghts4br3 sk1llz to back it up, I would totally kick ass.

The one thing to remember is to not fall prey to Palpatine SyndromeTM, and let my overconfidence blind me; but for that, I have the evil overlord tips.

I just don't have it in me to be evil. Call it virtue or call it laziness, I just find it easier to be the good guy.

As for what I'd use, depends on how strong I am. If I'm Yoda-level or higher, I might dispense with the lightsaber. If not, I'd definitely keep one handy.

Let's see:

If I go Dark Side, I'll be corrupted by power into an evil, twisted monster who thrives on hatred and the suffering of others. The Jedi will want to hunt me down and destroy me. There's a good chance I will die by a knife in the back.

If I go Light Side, without joining the Jedi (who have thousands of years of experience with this sort of thing to help avoid the whole "power corrupts" deal) there's still a good possibility that the exercise of my power could eventually corrupt me. Joining the Jedi means I never get to fall in love with anyone or pursue anything resembling a normal life; serving others will be my destiny.

Personally, I'll just choose not to develop my Force abilities and live out the rest of my life as a regular guy. Being a Force-adept sucks.

If I could use the force to somehow ensure my financial independence as well as persuade hot boys to fuck with me, I'd be happy.

I'll probably wind up being one of those cookie-cutter rogue greys - generaly try to be a good guy, using healing and protection, but whip out the choke and lightning when need be, and also be a fair hand with my saber. Only real divergence would be that I'd tell the no-blaster philosophy to sod off 0 I'm not running al over the place and making myself a damn target just because some old fart says blasters are crude.

EDIT: And I'd use a red saber, just because I like the color - screw that color-coding shite, I'll be what I want.

I'm going for the protector of the galaxy routine, I like order and all that jazz.
My concience bothers me when I don't give money to the homeless or take too many paper clips or something, so I seriously doubt I could go around crushing people's tracheas with the force for fun.

Besides, baddies always tend to end up with wrinkled, withered skin, bad teeth, and completely insane.

Now this is interesting. It is just as I expected. The evil guys don't like using their lightsaber unless they have to. They like lightning/telekinesis. I think it's a "power trip" thing. I'll have another hypothetical scenario up after I'm done raiding. Next one will be a little more specific.

During the Old Republic, I'd go find some nice out of the way world and take it over. (ala Emperess Teta system or something).

During the later years, I take over Daithimor

During the Empire's reign, I'm not sure. There is no way in HELL I could take down Vader and Palpatine, but I'd be happy being a warlord under them. I'd just avoid Endor or traps. When the Empire fell, I take my ill-gotten gain and go secretly take over the Corporate sector.

During the rise of the New Republic, I'm in the Corporate Sector, setting up a some cloning facilities, droid factories and shipyards.

During the Vong Invasion, I'm not sure what I'd do. Lay low, develop biological weapons, train my dark siders, and get ready to pounce.

I really meant what fighting style would you prefer using. Saber or bitchslapping people around with the force (aka: throwing senate platforms with the force).

Silver Lightsaber, Mace-Windu combat style, neutral.

Any force power anybody cares to throw at me, I can just bounce it back. And if I'm powerful enough, even amplify it.

I have an orange double blade. I try to feel the force flowing through me. I use mind tricks to make my opponents forget about me. I am young, and push dark jedi of cliffs for fun. I generally use my double blade and force pushes and such.

Why does one have to be a bad guy to have a red saber? Honestly...

I'll take Maul's style and Maul's saber no question but I'm much rather prefer the "Force Neck-Snap" as in Kotor-2 inbetween dicing my foes.

Lightsider with double bladed blue saber. As powerful as the darkside maybe it eventualy destroys the user. Has there ever been a happy peaceful ending for a sith lord ?

If I had that kind of power I couldn't not be good. I joke about being evil but at heart I'm much too nice for that.

play around have some fun with using the force for subtle misdirection and the like, but actually use a saber? nah, something more mundane, like a wrench, or cooking supplies, or a staff.

Pure force and lightsaber as backup because i dont like to get physical. (true dex authentic so I propably would kill myself doing somenthin with my saber)

With those mindcontrolling powers I know i could very easily abuse them so trying to stay lightside will be tough. Popably i would lay low and use the force to get me good standard of living or somenthing like that. No going out of may way to help save the galaxy or other that kind of dangerous stuff.

I'm much too mellow to go around cackling madly shooting lightning from my fingertips or crushing people's trachea's, so all-out evil is out of the question. But I don't like the fundie Jedi either. So I guess I'm going with the light side of grey.

Now, lightsabering people looks flashy and I'm sure the women are impressed with the fancy moves, but it's not my cup of tea. Those Sith are too damn quick with their killing blades, and even a glancing hit could mean you loose a limb (and I need those limbs in case I need to shoot lightning at some point in the future.) So lightsaber only for backup, brute force slinging of stuff at range is my thing for combat.

Being evil is far too easy and ultimately less fufilling.

Maybe I'm just weird but the concept of protecting people is far more appealing then munipulating them. The Jedi however, a re far too restrictive for my taste, I guess I'd be some sort of mercenary with a set moral absolutes.

Give me my blue lightsaber. I prefer straight up melee.

My alignment would probably be some sort of lightish grey.

ACK, I am the only one who chose Red Lightsaber.
