Wow. I'll probably get assassinated for posting in here since it's almost 2 years old, but I've got some to add..A couple of WEG terms..
SBD - Shield Barrier Depth. A unit used to measure shield strength.
RU - Resistance Unit. A measurement of armour strength.
MGLT - MicroGravity Linear Acceleration Tolerance. A measure of sublight acceleration.

No, no assasination, but a note that you are a fucking moron....for digging up that old of a topic.

Well, considering the topic was posted in a sticky at the top of the page, it didn't take much digging.
If posting possibly useful information in a thread for such information, when said thread is not locked AND is linked in a sticky makes me a moron, then guilty as charged.

Good to see you acknowledge you're a moron.
You grasp that topic was for REFERENCE, right?

What is wrong with updating a reference? New terminology is always entering a field, and thus new editions are released for reference works. The science fiction lists could probably use some updates.
It is a very useful list but it has a few terms that are more relevant to other forums. Could we use this thread to update the list, stickify the Star Wars terms in this forum, and move and stickify the other terms in their respective forums?

You start up then a new thread, and not ressurect a years old plus one.
If it's stickied, cool, but updating a thread with SW GAMES terms which are pretty much considered near apocrypha for reference beyond game terminology is a pointless bump.

Actually, among those, MGLT was most likely the most significant. The term 'MGLT' was used as a speed rating by ILM LONG before WEG picked it up.
And why, do tell, would you create a new thread to post reference material on? In that way, you get 40 threads for the same types of material. Why not keep one updateable thread? Oh, wait. I thought that's how it was done. Especially since, again, the thread was linked in a sticky.

The other thing is, I've played SWD6 since 1989, I've not heard MGLT referenced in it. In other sources, like the old X-Wing PC sim yes, but never WEG. If it's in one of the several books I did not buy, I'd like to know where they're referenced, and when, just to see if it came before or after the X-Wing game.

And amazingly means absolutely zilch in any terms except to be tecnobabble.
And I'm glad dickwad, you're thinking "So why can't I update a years old thread that became a joke upon itself?"

Then why was this 'Joke upon itself' listed as a serious reference? Do I need to post screenshots?

Aw....maybe because the mods decided to let the topic die and not split it because it had run its course?
No, please eludicdate their reasons.

Then, if the mods did not want anymore reference material posted in a reference material thread, perhaps the mods should have locked said thread?

Why?
If you're so fucking stupid not to grasp and read the entire thread and understand what Thread necromancy is, that's the larger problem then troubling a mod to lock a years old thread.

The thread is titled 'Acronyms and Abbreiviations index'. The thread is posted under 'Common Star Wars topics (Please check before posting)', which is a sticky. In that sticky, under 'Reference Threads and Sources:', you see 'Acronyms and Abbreiviations index'.
If this thread was not meant to be a glossary of terms, then why is it there?
If it is not meant to be updated, why is it open?
Why is it listed as a reference?
And you call me a moron.

Let's answer the dumbfuck questions.
1. It was there as reference.
2. It was open because when it died, it stayed dead until your moronic ineptitude decided to add pointless terminology, thus before you there was no reason to lock it.
3. You do know what references are?
And yes, I still call you a moron for basically two nice reasons. One for Thread Necro, and two not reading the thread and realizing what had become of it, and why there have been no updates.

And references cannot be updated?

If I'm asking why it was listed as a reference to begin with, obviously I know what a reference is.
I think this whole thing is fucking hillarious.
'Okay. Let's make a reference! Oh no. Our reference went to shit and died! God forbid anyone else ever post anymore reference material in a thread designed from the beginning for reference materials!'

Let's see, you necroed a dead thread to post pointless game references, when the rules state, don't unless it is of some value.
Oh wait, I get it, you don't read.

I've already said the references are not just game references, but were used by ILM during the production stages. At least I'm pretty sure I said this. Wait. Let me go back and look. Oh, yes. There it is.

Maybe it's not me who doesn't read.

Oh quite you can't read.
PR 9.
Do not post in an old, inactive thread unless you have something genuinely new and interesting to add to it. This is known as thread necromancy.
So I'll leave it at this. You violated that rule and I split off the section. Unless you can find some gross action on my part, take it up with the other moderators and adminstration. If not, you're just bitching that I singled your insipid little add-on, that was put in a thread that by current reckoning was more then a year and half old.
