Rebel Commandoes on Endor

How much did the Rebel Commandoes do on Endor? In the movie we don't really do anything except get caught and shoot Stormtroopers a little bit.

They were able to break up Trooper squads with coordinated fire and what not. I think the novel has a little about them but I'm not positve.
