Star Wars Chronicles: The Prequels
Great. Now the loon will try and undermine the Prequal ICSs with this guide, "Star Wars Chronicles: The Prequels" which he has co-authored with Steve Sansweet. I can only hope the editors won't let his irrational dislike for Dr. Saxton's work infiltrate the book and screw everything up.
I hope that I'm overreacting.

Well, the ICSs, ITWs and VDs still override since they're still closer to canon. If the PT Chronicles book is anything like the OT one, it's basically just a giant glorified picture book with virtually no information.

Again, you guys with the fucking conspiracy theories. There is no secret plot to undermine the ICS and Dr. Saxton. If anything, this book will probably
reinforce the information found in the Incredible Cross-Sections books, as these are just as meticulously researched.
Plus we get lots of pretty pictures of the prequel vehicles and vessels.

He has shown particular personal dislike for rationalist methodology and posted a few idiotic pieces which implied insult toward Dr. Saxton specifically.

As I said, I hope I'm overreacting, but Hidalgo has indeed been shown to use his position in LFL to attempt to undercut works which Saxton has contributed to.

The chronicles books are about the making ofthe films and such IIRC. Lots of shots of the proprs and costumes and models and talking about them. As such, your concerns are unfounded.
A better thing to get riled up about would be WotC overwriting a bunch of the ROTS ICS with the new info they are putting out on their site.

Alright, perhaps I did jump the gun a little. But what's this about WotC trying to overwrite the ICS?

Lets see: Changed Venator weapons compliment (book already listed them as doubles so now this is a quarter of the total light guns), changed Venator troop compliment (ok, ROTS novel, but ties in with AOTC ITW), weakened weapons values (kinda minor and forgivable I guess), changed providnce air speed, changed ARC-170 airspeed (by a factor of about 42!), changed Actis air speed (by a factor of 10!), V wing airspeed now lower then Actis (and from the book lower by a factor of 35!), theta shuttle airspeed lowered by 2.4, droid gunship airspeed lowered by 23.6, ranges on Juggernaught rockets shrunk like crazy, and that's just what I count. Connor said he found a bunch more.

Don't those qualify as game mechanics?

If you ask me, most of them aren't game mechanics since they're actual stats and not dice codes. But they're overridden, anyway, so it doesn't matter shit what WotC revises.

There's no need to worry about this new book. From what I understand, current canon, not outdated Databanks or Essential Guides, will be upheld.

But who cares about that, when one prefers the incorrect numbers from the SW Database, and refuses to acknowledge the fact that they're obsolete.

They're just continuing the venerable tradition of providing the wrong stats for generations of roleplayers. Whoop-de-doo.
It doesn't seem quite as bad as Ender has it. Venator heavies are listed as "pairs", and Juggernaught rockets use "increments" for range, which doesn't asy what the max range is. The point is however that they shouldn't be modifying any stats unless necessary for game balancing, though. The increment thing would count as that, but the rest?

The airspeeds are probably for game balance since the RPG stats of the OT ships have similar speeds.
Of course, it would be better if they just fixed the other ships to match the ROTS ICS numbers.

Actually, I'd discourage doing it even for game-balance. Game-balance is normally good if it stays a game, but I notice that stupid EU authors tend to take games for real. Even if they do send the ICS, those idiots would have no comprehension of gigatons (the ROTS:ICS isn't quite as bestowed with statistics in any case) and would thus rely on the game.
