I was just looking at Mr. Poe's site, which he as updated and going over the books he has exerpts from. Seems it's 8hrs from Alderaan to Tatooine. That's 60,000 light years in 8 hours. Not only that, the Falcon has a faster hyperdrive so it could have made it in a shorter time. heh.

According to the BTM CD, the Falcon did the trip in 6.5 hours.

Well, let's put a check mark in the 'bad ass' column on this one.

By combining the 60,000 light years and the BTM 6.5 hours, we get a FTL speed for the Falcon of...9230.769 LY/hr.

Especially when you consider that the maximum sustainable speed of an Intrepid is (based on a friend's formulas) under 1 LY/hr (about .6). Granted, the Falcon's a fast ship, but even if it's a thousand times as fast as a normal cargo ship, a dirt hauler could outrun the Federation's best warship.

Crap. I should have said my friend's formulas were based off the old TOS warp scale and the conversions between old scale and new scale (which are non-canonical, but appear to work as a conversion).

What's so sad is that the EU authors always slow the ships down. Making it days or weeks to get anywhere.

True :D The only problem is, do you know what kind of battles and events could occur if an author took advantage of this. I have a fanfic somwhere that had a battle at one place with pirates. The pirates jump and are followed to another major planet. heh. I would love to see Allston or Zahn, hell Episode III show something like this. woo. .5, .5 indeed.
