Has anyone bought it yet? I was at Barnes and Noble today and I was rumaging through the book to see what interesting tidbits where included. I didn't see anything really new or attention grabbing.

Some interesting thigns that I DID notice were:

-On the galaxy map, the Unknown Regions looked as if they were beyond the galatic rim, unlike the rough map included in the NJO books

-In the Clone War section, it mentions that the Seperatist forces convinced the Mon Calamari to attack Kamino. I guess that explains why the Empire began enslavement of the Mon Calamari.

-Tarkin's father (at least I think it was) was a senator who was very militaristic and in turn, pro-Palpatine.

Those were the only two things that stuck out during my short rummaging. Everything else was pretty much rehashed.

I'll probably pick it up one of these days... how much is it, BTW?

Dude, if that was true theres no WAY Palpatine would have let them build their huge Cruisers, even if the where "Cruise ships"

IIRC, the only Mon Calamari to join the CIS were a group of rogue scientist with some experimental weapon of some sort (I only read part of the comic, I'm not sure.) By in large though, the Mon Calamari were with the Republic, although the Quarren did side with the Seperatists.

I'm pretty sure the Empire did begin some sort of enslavement program on Mon Calamari and then the Rebels came in and liberated them, no? I can't seem to recall specifically.

The Mon Calimari for the most part sided with the Republic. In the Clone Wars cartoon they fought along side clone "water-troopers". And in the General Greivous comic Greivous attacks a Mon Cal starship safeguarding younglings. The Quarren on the otherhand sided with the Separatists helping to design and build the Recusants and Providence class vessels, and opposing clone troopers in the Clone Wars cartoon. It could be the Empire occupied Mon Calimari to enslave the Quarrens and the Mon Cals couldn't stand by and let the Empire do that to their cousins so they protested, were put down and enslaved in turn, then rebeled.

I'm confused. Amazon.com has a release date of 10/17.

Edit: I just checked again, and it still says it's not relased.

What type of galactic map does the book use?

Personally, I´m more psyched about the Ultimate Locations of Star Wars, containing info on all six films, which is also said to come out next month. Anyone seen an early copy of that?

Nothing besides what I've seen already released to the public.

I just checked Amazon again, and they did up the release date to the 19th. I guess both them and BN.com have been slow in updating it (BN still has October listed.) Thanks for the info.

And it's a damn shame about the DS1 info. You'd think DK would have done better about that.

Hang on, are you guys referring to the compendium of all previous released ITWs as well as some RotS entries or are you referring to some other book? Try and be specific.

What's so insane about it? I fail to see why everyone thinks the 20 year production time is so unbelievable. It's perfectly reasonable.

Edit: I'm not sure why it was released so early at my particular Barnes and Noble.

Regarding the galactic map, it looks like the map that was released as a poster from the SW Insiders a while back. But from my brief glimpse, the Unknown Regions didn't look like it was part of the galaxy itself, rather the label "Unknown Regions" was at the very far edge of the galactic rim. I'll have to go and take another look at it sometime in the near future; not going to buy it since all that's included doesn't look new/interesting. It doesn't even talk about the spacebattle at Endor, only the ground assault and even that was sketchy at best (as in lacking information).

Ah, the comment about the Endor space battle was when I believed someone was referring to the Complete Locations of SW, not the Visual Dictionary. To be frank, I didn´t really expected any changes from previous VD.

More interested in what news will come from the CLSW, especially any insight into the Imperial fleet at Endor (since they´re giving a closer look at Obi-Wan and Anakin´s journey through the one in ROTS, I´m hoping for something similar in the ROTJ-section.

120 km AND powered by a fusion reactor. Plus the 15 meter AT-ATs are back.

No mention of the Executor or DS2 though. Does say Moffs are military leaders though, instead of political ones.

In other words, a classic copy'n'paste job, reminicent of the Technical Guides?
