Fat fucking chance. I bet a dead dog that they won't even touch anyone who hasn't been published or written anything for television or film before, let alone doesn't even have an agent. Or a guild card.

Basically if you're not already in that whole scene, then you can just abandon your hopes now.

*sings out* O Stravooooooooooooo!

:P

Seriously, who here wouldn't love to see Starcrossed adapted for the small screen... IMO it'd make a great series. Of course, the text version would have to be completed first... *HINTHINTHINT* :P

Sure, because combining the two franchises for copyrighted television is simple. :P

It certainly didn't say that it was an open call for writers.

I'd be mightly happy and very content if Lucas were to sign up JMS to a season or two of story writing. If JMS could take a low budget scifi show like B5 and turn it into gold, just think what he could do for a high budget SW series.

One word for you: "AAAAAAGGGH!"

I want JMS nowhere near the Star Wars franchise.

I think Uwe Bowell should direct the TV series.

I sincerly hope you forgot a ":P" or "" in that post.

I think that Moore (if he wasn't busy) might be a good choice, depending on the direction the show is aiming for.

As long as the Wookiees don't spend half the time talking about "honorable combat" or dropping their bowcasts to fight with meleƩ weapons. :P

If he hired me I wouldn't even give my job 2 weeks notice, It would be a fucking dream gig but I live in the real world and Spanky is right. There's no way some no name no experience writer if getting anywhere near this...but imagine another possibility. KJA.

Doomesday, the End of the World!

Hmm, now that Star Trek is on mothballs, I know of two "writers" who might be interested in some new jobs...

Nah. Couldn't happen in a million years... or could it?

And there's a certain Dune writer that might be interested in going into television work...

Better yet, how about the webmaster of a certain Star Wars rumor site from North Carolina. Not a very subtle choice, I'll admit, but still.

Wake me up when my nightmare are over!

PS: I'm surprised nobody has brought up Kevin Smith in this thread yet, so I'll be the first.

PPS: Somebody should call up Richard Whettestone and see what he's up to.

Another TV-related snippet:
The latest from GL in the N.Y Post

The New York Post managed to catch up wtih George Lucas last week while attending the Dressing the Galaxy fashion show in NYC

Lucas sounds off on the planning of his "Star Wars" TV show, originally said to be for next year - in addition to a continuation of the animated "Clone Wars" series.

"There will be a live-action show, but I don't know if it'll be in 2006," he says. "I haven't even started writing the script."

He does know, however, that the show will take place between Episodes III and IV, and will focus on the little people - those weird-looking creatures you glimpse fleetingly in the background.

"It's all minor, minor characters [from the movies]," says the director. "It's not the Skywalker story at all - that's going on in another part of the galaxy."

Okay, how about a sci-fi writer who has done television work and who we actually like? I'm speaking of George R. R. Martin.

Yeah but I Don't want work on "A Song of Fire and Ice" to slow to a yet slower crawl.

They should hire Timothy Zahn to work the storyline though.

Zahn is one of my favorite EU authors, but every single one of his seven forays into the SW universe have involved either Thrawn, Mara Jade, Outbound Flight, or all of the above, and I'm unsure how he would deal with writing something that will, in all likelihood, not have anything to do with any of them. Besides, does Zahn even have any experience with television?

Too bad Ron Moore is busy... :P

They should go after the Space:Above and Beyond writers, dammit

But only because they were truly wanking off worthy. Seriously, he writes some of the best stuff. He doesn't have to write the scripts, but he could devise the story?

At least Zahn has introduced great villains: a madman that is mentally unbalanced but brilliant and manipulative with a thirst for revenge. Or a cool genius who got done in only by luck of the Force and too much trust in his own abilities.

So it would be great if he could devise some new badass characters, antagonists that are real power players. No more asthma-wracked Robots, robots that yell, "charge!" Or heavy handed biblical or political commentaries.

I'm not sure that works. JMS created the entire story of B5, working it out years in advance. He didn't take on someone else's project and "turn it to gold."

I do agree that he's a fantastic writer, and him doing a Star Wars series intrigues me greatly.

Right now, I can't think of a better free writer off the top of my head. He's got a ton of problems admittedly, and b5 stank like crap in more places than I want to remember. But would you prefer Trek writers? I think he'd do the theme justice. And like what was said earlier. Don't go near Ron Moore. He's got bigger projects. :P

Remember, he can only do it if it's based on a video game.

Perhaps the series could be based on "Republic Commando" or "Empire at War." This would allow Uwe to take on the project with gusto!

Then again a series based on "Yoda Stories" or "Super Bombad Racing" might be more appropriate. ;) The possibilities are endless!

Well..."gusto" is probably the third adjective I'd use for his attitude... :P
