Byss Casualties

So, how big was the loss of Byss a Empire's End. The planet had 18 billion people, 4 soverign-class commandships in orbit (at least some of them survived) There wan't a big imperial fleet over Byss, as the Empire retook most of the Galaxy, so the fleet losses were small, and many warships likely escaped before the planet's destruction. What do you think happened?

Well, the planet blew up, that's what happened.

yes, but what about the losses on the planet, fleets, senior command, etc.

The fact that the planet exploded should be a clue that more or less everything on it was lost.

not everyhting, btu mainly the strength of the fleet. it wasn't as big as earlier, so losses were small, likely and did some ships enter hyperspace quickly. I believe at least one Soverign survived

The Emperor's flagship Eclipse II was blown to kingdom come as well as any other capital ship in near-Byss orbit. The three most damning things which were lost were: A) a good chunk of the Emperor's top underlings B) the resource base (i.e. the population) which the Emperor drew his immense dark side powers from C) thousands of the Empire's best warships.

Actually, IIRC the Eclipse II was destroyed when it rammed the Galaxy Gun. Otherwise you mostly have it.

yes, that but there was a much smaller fleet in orbit, and some likely escaped

I doubt many ships in low orbit could escape, being in the grav well of Byss.

but the Falcon could, and Imperator-class destroyers could outrun that ship. supposedly, at least one soverign-class commandship also escaped.

Were does this come from?
IIRC, the Sovereign class star destroyers were not even finished during the Emperors return, and the chaos which followed the destruction of Byss prevented the empire of finishing construction.
IIRC, they were not even present at Byss.
EDIT: Assuming Palpatine used his force powers to energize his troops once again, his death would mean that the Imperial personnal at Byss would experience confusion similar to Endor, if not greater. THis would seriously hamper any evacuation efforts.

IIRC the Falcon escaped Byss by going into hyperspace while inside the gravity well of Byss, which is risky at best.
