Gents;

Do any of you have a picture from the Star Wars newspaper comic strip where C-3P0 and R2-D2 are floating in space, and 3P0 comments he can't hear what R2 may be saying because sound doesn't travel in a vacuum?

I don't have that story, but I'll check some of my comics when I get back, might have characters mentioning 'no sound in space' there.

Do you recall what strip it was?

Unfortunately, no. I seem to recall it was one of the very early strips, where (for some reason) 3P0 and Artoo are abandoned or blown out of a ship, and 3P0 is worried about drifting away from Artoo.

Can't help you with the comic-strip, but this quote from TUQ should also help. It is on page 374: " There was no Boom, of corse, but Mara grew suddenly uncomfortably warm insider her vac suite ..."

I seem to remember several references to the silence of space in the X-wing novels. I could be wrong.

Aren't these the ones that are available to any Hyperspace member? I'm sure we have at least one around here somewhere.

I could check, but I'd still need the name of the series. Besides, it's possible that it could be one of the ones not online yet.

I have vague memories which points me in the direction of Russ Manning's old strips. Unfortunately I don't have them to refer to. Anyone has the complete Russ Manning strips? Not the edited version that Dark Horse Comics released as Classic Star Wars - A Long Time Ago series.

I'm almost certain it was very early in the serires. I have a Hyp account; I'll have to spend a weekend looking.

BTW, I wonder why Russ Manning chose to draw the SW comics the way he did? Very cartoony. He was my favorite Spiderman artist in the 70's, because of how "real" he made Spidey look, and the incredible cityscapes he drew. I remember one comic where Spiderman was in France, looking for Cyclone, and the detail was incredible.
