"No Disintegrations."

So, following my theme of linking dialogue from one trilogy to the next. In the ESB, when Vader makes the call for bounty hunters to show up and help track down the Millenium Falcon, he points to Fett in particular and admonishes him - "Use whatever means neccessary but no disintergrations."

Now, this COULD just be a throw away line to highlight a character trait that Fett is known for BUT what if we look closer. Vader as Anakin may have known Fett in Ep. III and in fact worked with him after his fall to the dark side. Fett wants to avenge Poppa Jango's death and so he teams up with Tyrannus to help kill Jedi.

IN Ep. III we know that Mace Windu is gonna die. (GL and Jackson say so in numerous interviews on both the DVD and during the marketing blitz when AOTC first came out) We know Mace killed Jango. Hence Fett will want revenge on Mace in particular.

Now as a writer I like to examine various scenarios and this is one that comes to mind with this particular dialogue. What if Mace knows the location of Obi Wan and Yoda and where they are escaping to in the end. Mace decides to hold off the attackers, Anakin included that are storming the Jedi temple - whatever scenario you can imagine for Obi and Yoda's escape from the purge, personally I think the dramatic way to puntuate the purge's beginning in Ep. III is just to storm the Jedi temple witrh clone troopers and heavy weapons after it is discovered that the Jedi have been playing both sides against the middle and have been manipulating the whole clone war (that Palpy is a sneaky bastard  )

Anyway, Mace is holding the attackers off and Anakin knows that Mace knows where they're going, he wants Mace alive, but Fett disintergrates Mace in a knock down drag out fight. Fett is satisfied that he had had his revenge but Anakin is furious that he lost his only lead on where his old master and Yoda have gone.

Years later he runs across Fett again on teh Executor and admonishes Fett: "No disintergrations."

A little long winded but I could see it as a nice little payoff for the fans.

Okay, Okay I admit it, I want GL to let me at least collborate on Ep. III

Samuel L. Jackson wants a bad-ass, macho death scene, and I don't think getting disintegrated by an adolescent boy is going to cut it. :?

Would be cool, though.

I really don't think Vader would acknowledge someone from his Skywalker years like that, as he's mentally a totally different person.

Wouldn't a pissed-off Anakin at that point simply kill Boba for cheating him out of vital info? (I do like your approach of linking the trilogies though :) )

They still gotta answer why Obi-Wan vanished, why Yoda vanished and why Qui-Gonn didn't at death. Since Mace is the only bad-ass jedi that'll be taken down...

So you think Mace is bad-ass enough to easily kill Jang but not Bobba? Who is essentially the same guy, and with less experince than Jango at that! No Way. I can see Mace defending the others as they escape from the Jedi Temple which is about to be blown up with Mace and Dooku fighting and they both die when the Temple explodes. or something similar. I don't see Mace getting bested by anyone.

Jango tells Boba in the AotC novelization that he will be a much better bounty hunter. He has the benefit of being trained by Jango, which is in fact demonstrated by his capture of Han Solo in ESB when his dad was fooled by the same trick. Boba is a better hunter than Jango by a lot, but he could not defeat Mace Windu. He would probably not even stand a chance.

Keep in mind, it doesn't have to be a stand up fight. he could take Mace out as he is deuling with Anakin or taking on a horde of Clonetroopers. It would be the kind of death Samuel jackson would want, think Bormomir in LOTR, a pile of bodies at his feet as he takes on an endless horde, holding off Anakin when suddenly he does not notice the small shadow slip in....BAM...the camera zooms to Mace's face as the music swells and he dies.

Anakin is pissed but wants to reach Obi and races past Boba, Boba slips away and they do not cross paths again until ESB, but Vader remembers and reminds him.

I find it disturbing that anyone wants to see Mace killed by a seventh grader regardless of the circumstances.

Why can't people just let that line allude as to how much of a badass Boba is? Overanalyzation sucks. Especially when it leads to people wanting awesome characters being blown up by some 13-year-old punk.

Hmm....maybe Boba Fett would accelerate his growth so that he can train a few years and take revenge on everyone relatively quickly. And whatever the hell happened to him anyway? The Jedi just LEFT him there? Or did he run away? We never see how he actually gets away and how and/or where he lives or anything. Where can he go? I guarantee the Republic has people protecting its interests on Kamino now, so he can't go there. Does he just wonder the galaxy in the Slave I? How does he survive without any income? Is Jango Fett independently wealthy? I'd like to have these questions answered somehow.

Boba will not kill Mace. Boba is too young. End of story.

Getting killed by a 13 year old is the very definition of going out "like a punk".

I wish people would quit it it's such an incredibly stupid idea.

Sorry guys, I'd prefer that Boba Fett isn't in Episode III at all. The Fetts got their fleshing out in AOTC, nuff said, can we leave it alone now?

I thought I already mentioned this. Anakin and Mace fighting. Some how, some way, Boba Fett shows up, and disintergrates Mace. Now Anakin has a reason to tell Fett 'No disintegrations.'

Ugh, sorry to say this, but some of you guys are looking at this from a partial moron/wanking perspective.

Fett would be only about 12-15 in III, and there is no way in fucking hell that he could become as skilled as Jango in that amount of time.

Obviously, Vader is refering to Fett's reputation as an adult bounty hunter, not from when he was just some damn kid 20 years ago (asuming Vader even knew who Boba Fett was at the time).

Besides, no matter how cool of a kill wasting Windu would be for a preteen/teenage Fett, it would be a pathetic death for Mace. Fett killing Windu is like Maggie Simpson shooting Mr. Burns: it's absurd.

(Or maybe Vader mistook Fett for Gorm the Dissolver  )

Nobody ever mentioned having to be skilled. At least not me. I will dig up what I thought about the matter, and the scenerio I thought about. I will get it.

p.s. Spankmizer, what the fuck is that in your sig at the very bottom in pink?

could it be possible that Windu dies in some sort of starfighter combat?, maybe Mace is fighting Boba, he runs to a ship, Slave 1 hammers his Delta-7, or whatever he has, thereby disintegrating him.

Hmm....it could be that. Hey, if Lucas let Anakin blow up the Trade Federation ship, who knows what he'd let Boba do as a kid in his Slave I? I think, barring growth acceleration, Boba Fett doing stuff in the Slave I is the role he will most likely have in Episode III, if any.

The Jedi Temple stood high and proud overlooking the city planet that is Coruscant. At the very top was the Jedi Council chamber. Here the most dignified members of the Jedi Order meets to discuss matters of the Republic. However, the Jedi Order was now seemingly being hunted down and killed off by an unknown menace. No evidence could be brought to bear, but the remaining members believed the Sith were responsible. Only a few chaird remained in the room, along with only three Jedi Masters. One was Ki Adi Mundi, highly respected member of the council, he was wise and experienced in the Force. Along with him stood Plo Koon, who's native planet was deprived of oxygen. The result leaves the Jedi with only one option, to don a breath mask along with eye coverings which allow him to live in the atmosphere of Coruscant. Both members were in the middle of the round chamber. The ornate floor was chipped and scuffed. Chaos was engulfing the Republic at an alarming rate. The Supreme Chancellor Palpatine, who once worked alongside the Jedi, had declared himself Emperor. He passed a law making the Jedi fugitives. No one of course would look in the temple. Finally the highest ranking Jedi stood from his seat. He was tall and lean. Wisest of the order. Mace Windu was a living embodiment of the Force.
'There is a disturbance in the Force. The Dark Side approaches.'

Deep within temple the members of the Bear Club were gathered in the training room. The padawans were the young children of the order, adopted at a very early age with sufficient Force detection. A lone Jedi Knight stood watch over the children. Adi Galia was also a member of the Jedi Council. Now with the numbers dwindling to a handful, she was tasked with safeguarding the future of the Jedi.
'Alright my Padawans. Stay calm. Let the Force flow through you. Let's try some exercises until the transports arrive.'
With that the children began to levitate objects and predict what hand held scanning imagers would project. All of the sudden, the lights in the temple shut off. The padawans became startled and started to protest.
'The Force my padawans,' Adi Galia reminded, 'Calm. Stay calm. Focus your energies. Bring light to the dark.'
She could feel the Padawans influence on the Force as they began to cause a dim illumination to grow from their hands. A strange chilling breeze seemed to howl through the room.
'That's it my Padawans. Do no fear. Stay calm. Use the Force.'
The lights could be seen glowing from the room through the main prominade of the temple. Once during the height of the Republic and of the Order, the area would be streaming with Jedi. Coming and going to fulfill missions or following the Force. Now it was quiet. Except for a heavy mechanical sound. A sort of mechanical breathing sound. Then a shadow appeared at the doorway of the traing room. With a familiar snap-hiss
a thin shaft of blood red light extended from the shadow.

'Did you feel that?' Ki Adi Mundi asked.
'Yes. It's drawing closer.' Mace answered. 'The disturbance is great. Many young voices crying out.'
The three Jedi looked to the chamber entrance. In a violent display of power, the massive doors were blown off thier hinges. The three Jedi quickly used the Force to slow the objects letting them crash to the floor. Then footsteps could be heard along with a wheezing mechanical breathing sound. Out of the dark came the sound of a lightsabre igniting. A ruby shaft of light was accompanied by the snap-hiss sound. Walking into the chamber was a tall figure. Dressed all in black, he wore a domed helmet with a face plate. There was a modular apparatus on his chest to control his respirator. From his shoulders to his feet was a black flowing cape.
The three Jedi quickly pulled thier light sabres out and ignited them.
'Who are you?' Master Windu called out to the ominous figure.
'I am the Dark Lord of the Sith.' answered the dark man.
'The Sith are extinct. Count Dooku was killed in a space battle.' Ki Adi Mundi snapped back. Now the three were moving to encircle the man.
'No. I killed the count. I am Darth Vader, the new Dark Lord of the Sith! Fight me or die!' With that bellowing cry the figure moved with incrediable grace and speed. With a short slice, Plo Koon deflected but was pushed away by the shear force of the blow. Mace stepped in to try and take advantage of the opening. Vader was able to block the attack. Using the momentum he allowed Mace to fall forward before shoving him away. Already Vader had his blade on a return swing that blocked Ki Adi Mundi's chop. Vader did this with only one arm. The other he thrust out, using the Force to physically throw the Jedi Maser across the chamber. He impacted upon the window with such energies that he crashed through to plummet to the marvel of the city below. Plo Koon decided to move in quick scoring a glancing blow on Vader's forearm. This only served to anger the Sith Lord. Before the smoke could dissipate from the burnt leather, Vader was hacking away at Master Koon's blocks. The unrelenting attack was too much, Vader finally broke through the defense. His red blade heaved across the Jedi's chest. Vader stepped back as the body fell.
The Force, be it the lightside or the darkside, could allow a user to detect disturbances. Sometimes to predict the future, seeing things before they happen. Thus the case with the Sith Lord. Quickly he turned and blocked a jab from Mace Windu. Thier blades met and locked. The two comabants pushed off from each other and renewed thier attack in earnest. Great fevor rushed over them as strike after strike caused shrieking sounds to echo in the room. It was barely audible over the rush of air blowing in from the broken window. Vader was able to feint a high attack which left Mace open for a low swing. With a quick motion Mace was cut along the leg. He fell to the ground clutching the wound. Before Vader could press on Mace was able to Force push the Dark Lord back to the chambers entrance. Master Windu layed near the unbroken windows of the the chamber.
Above the winds came the sound of a fiery jets. Landing on the window cill and perching himself against the remaining frame stood a young boy. On his back was strapped a jet pack slightly to large for him. However the disintegrater grenade he held wasn't. The young boy armed a switch on the top and rolled it to Mace Windu's feet.
'Never cross a Fett, Jedi.' With that he took off again to enter the awaiting Slave I ship hovering in the distance. That was the last thing the great Jedi Master, Mace Windu would see. With a blinding flash covering only ten feet in diameter, the miniature bomb went off instantly vaporizing the warrior.
The mechanical breathing continued as the Dark Lord stood up in the entrance. He walked over to the charred mark on the floor.
'Disintegrated. I would have preferred otherwise.' With that, Darth Vader strode from the temple.

It was in a book but I don't remember which one... :?

"...but no desintegration!"

Before that meeting on the Executor Vader several times hired Boba Fett and on one particuler mission Boba Fett was hired to bring back an imperial officer who peculated money and equipment from the Imperial Navy.
The hunt gone well and Fett eliminated the officer instead of bringing him back alive...

Although in Episode 3 this may have change.
