I haven't seen this posted yet.
Holy fuck.
Anyone want to, uh, loan me some money?

Jesus $24,000?? Well that's eBay for ya.
Funny how they call it the "Rebel Attack Cruiser" though. Woe is the average joe who doesn't know what the proper name of the
Venator-class Star Destroyer is.

For that kind of cash, I can afford to buy enough lego and paint to build a freaking fleet of them.
Hmmmm, that gives me an idea
(senses Caius glaring at him)
Okay, maybe not

Click on the Bid list. It goes from around 2,500 to 23,000 in two days. It's a bit fun watching the bids. Theres on in there where someone ads a single $ to a bid from 22,000 to 22,001

Now if I had that kind of money to blow on toys...

People who bid on that have WAAAAY too much money to spend.

I've decided that if I ever win a sizable lottery, one of my purchases will be the commisioning of a scale-of-the-$300-ISD Lego model of the Executor.
Or a minifig-scale ISD, but even that might be...excessive.
scififan: Keep in mind this IS for charity, so what people are willing to spend on things tend to expand. After all, do you think an apperance in Penny Arcade is worth $20,000?

This is for charity? AH! Well that changes things abit
I mean, your still 'techniclly' paying 23,000 for a lego kit, but at least its going to a good cause

Anyone want to do the math to see how big one would be?

That's easy, how tall is a minifig, exactly, in centimeters?

What IS a minifig?

A quick calculation gives me a length of 115.2 meters for an Imperial-class Star Destroyer, using 4cm as a minifig.
1,368 meters for an
Executor-class
81.86 meters for a
Venator-class
Heck, even the Tantive IV is 10.8 meters.

Pretty sure 4cm is a little big...

Really? I measured one of my own figures to get it.

We could alwalys start a massive fan project to built it! I mean...how many people have lego star destroyers?

I do know it's for charity, and I believe in the cause, but I'm just saying that I don't have $20,000 to just spend on a charity, however good the cause is.. But it's nice to see people have money to spend, and I am very happy that people who's lives were destroyed by Katrina turned around, or at least made better.

I can't believe the people involved in the construction of an 8-foot Lego Galactic Republic Venator-class Star Destroyer would allow it to be labelled "Rebel Attack Cruiser". Never mind the "attack cruiser" colloqualism... but "Rebel"? Wtf? That's downright erroneous!

Did you see the thing on eBay? Sure some of those you posted are good, but they don't compare to the level of detail that the 8 footer's got.

i'm pretty sure the Imperator lego was bigger. And had a similar level of detail ...

Fuck thats gorgeous
I wonder if they'll deliver it to the UK
Just need to find out if I've won the lotto before though, or maybe just remortgage the house

Was it? I remember the offical LEGO one being about 3 ft. long. This monster is over 8 ft, and IIRC unique.
Or did they make a special eBay 8ft Imperator modle too?
