Where is Mandalore system?

I'm having a little bit of problem to know where Mandalore system can be. One source says this Mandalor is in the same sector as Coruscant, wondering if that can be accurate.

Mandalore System
Lying very close to the Coruscant system, the Manadlore System is in the Mayagil Sector.. When the revived Empire began its conquest of the Kaikielius and Metellos systems six years after the Battle of Endor, New Republic leaders on Coruscant began to search for a new base of operations.
Four thousand years ago, the Mandalore system was home to a group of fierce masked warrior clans led by a mysterious warlord called Mandalore. The clans, made up of deadly but honorable crusaders, rode semi- intelligent Basilisk war droids, boasted cutting-edge weaponry, and were considered to be the best fighters in the entire galaxy. The mask and title of "Mandalore" belonged to no single individual, but were traditionally passed down from one warrior to the next in the event of their leader's death. During the Sith War, the Mandalorians conquered the Kuar system and struck at the neighboring Teta system, forcing the Tetan leader Ulic Qel-Droma to battle Mandalore in single combat. Mandalore was defeated, and he swore his armies' allegiance to Qel-Droma and the Krath forces. The warlord was made Qel-Droma's war commander, and his clans won many victories for their new leader. At the close of the Sith War, however, Mandalore's armies were defeated in their attempt to capture the planet Onderon. Mandalore and his surviving warriors were forced to flee to the Dxun moon, where Mandalore was killed by a pair of the moon's deadly beasts and a new warrior donned his mask and assumed his title.

Millennia later, the warlike Mandalore people exterminated the Ithullan race, several hundred years before the Battle of Yavin. During the Clone Wars, a group of warriors from the system were defeated by the Jedi Knights. The notorious bounty hunter Boba Fett wears an armored suit similar to those worn by these Mandalore warriors, and his alternate ship Slave II is based on a Mandalorian police ship design. Imperial dungeon ships were originally designed by the Mandalorians, and were introduced during the Jedi purge to contain dangerous force users. Mandalorian battle harnesses are designed to be operated by R2 units, and Freedon Nadd's tomb on Dxun was constructed from Mandalorian iron.

Then it is also this extraction from same site:

Tallaan
A planet in the Core Worlds near the Colonies region, Tallaan is the site of the Tallaan Imperial Shipyards. When Grand Moff Tarkin was killed aboard the first Death Star, the Empire released an official statement claiming that Tarkin had actually died in a shuttle crash at the Tallaan shipyards. Tallan is located in the Mandalore System of the Mayagil Sector.
I know the Tallaan shipyards has been mentioned in the NJO once but nothing on where it is located.

I don't see how that could be true. Admittedly my only knowledge of the Mandalorians comes from KOTOR, but they invaded from the outer rim during the Mandalorian Wars as they were documented in that game. If they were right next door to Coruscant then I can't imagine that working out so well. There's just no way they could have gotten away with conquering so many distant systems and still had their invasion of the Republic proper come as a surprise if the seat of their power was right at the core of Republic territory.

Only way I can see that Mandalore system could close to Corusant and the Republic would still ignore the Mandalorian threat is that there's no Mandalorian at Mandalore (meaning they driven from there some time in the past.)

Nope. Every time the Mandalorians are defeated, they return to the same planet, their homeworld, or at least that's what I got out of the New Essential Chronology (damn good book, I might add).

which would imply that Mandalore system is not close to core regions of the Republic (it was rather clear in KOTOR that the Senate or the Jedi High Council did nothing because the regions under attack by the Mandalorians were a) beond the Outer Rim (or the Galactic Republic), or b) Outer Rim colonies of little signigance

The Mandalore system is located near the Hydian Way at the inner edge of the Outer Rim. It's close to Wayland, Taris, and Null. On the typical SW galaxy maps, it's in the top left quadrant of the map.

Is the system deserted in the Clone wars/Galactic Empire/New Republic era?

I heard at WotC's d20 SWRPG boards that Mandalore system was still inhabited during the Galactic Civil War and was actually occupied by Imperial forces, since the locals were not too keen on the Empire, and liberated by the Rebels.

Apparently the Mandalorians of Mandalore were just pale shadows of their former past who had forgotten their fierce warrior ways - save for their fierce determination to remain independent from outside forces. This idea is supported by Kreia's visions in KotOR II and also by the fact that Jango & Boba Fetts and few other Mandalorian supercommandos were considered to be heirs of the true Mandalorian tradition.

Take this with a heavy dose of doubt, though - I can't personally confirm this and I don't remember any actual link to any source when this subject came up. Of course, this is rather rational idea and personally I like it (I also like the idea that Boba is busily assembling a new Mandalorian Order in NJO).

Yes I haven't come that far in NJO, but that could lead to a very interesting story in the future. A good story could come out of it, if given to the right author.

Well, Boba is apprently going to be re-appearing in the new series as a major role, so yeah, a new order of Mandolorians is quite possible.
