Special effects glitch in Episode III

I'm sorry if this has been spotted before, but about 35:50 into the movie during the scene where Palpatine asks Anakin to spy on the Council, notice the window behind Palpatine's head. The buildings outside were apparently not dressed up to look sleek and futuristic - they look like part of the Chicago skyline.

This is probably the Easter Egg

Is this what you're talking about? Holy crap. I've never realized that.

Yeah, thanks for the image Plympto. I still can't believe they didn't catch that in the editing process. Maybe they'd already torn down the set and just didn't think it was worth re-doing for that few seconds of incorrect background.

I think they could probably just change it from pre-recorded footage (it is background, after all.

SoD, one could simply say that they are supposed to look that way. There are a wide variety of design styles on Coruscant, naturally, perhaps some off-world industrialist bought up some cityscape and modeled it in an ecclectic manner.

Wasn't all the shooting for ROTS done in front of a bluescreen?

Yeah, since Palps office doesn't even exist (apparently) I doubt they built a miniature skyline to sit behind the window. I'm pretty sure it was all green-screen stuff.

Green screen, actually. It's odd watching the docs where you see that every seen has a background of lime-green in a rather dimly-lighted building.

ah. Well if everything was done in front of a greenscreen then it means that the skyline was programmed to look like that for that scene. If its different in from the skyline in other scenes in Palps office then it might be the Eegg I posted above.

Considering how vast the scenes on Courscont are, I imagine ye could look for years and still find goodies hidden in the cityscapes... Supposidly somewhere the "Yellow Submarine" can be seen flying by. ((but im not sure if its true))

Well it makes sense to include in the city as an easter egg the skyline of the city of Chicago, the city where the first skyscraper was built.

The Mile High illinois is a building that would fit right into the city and is the only Frank Lloyd Wright building that would even be visible in that mega city.

The main office was real. It was the communications room where Mace and co confronted the Chancellor that was entirely blue-screen.

The office was real, but the window is a green screen, ya?

Well, I'll put it this way: It wasn't looking out on Chicago. :P

Hehe clearly. Chicago doesn't have airspeeders buzzing about its skyscrapers anyway.

Shooting was mostly in Australia right?

Yes, but completely on set with no location footage whatsoever, although there was some location background plate photography in places like Italy, Switzerland, and Thailand.

This is most likely an easter egg, similar to the one in ROTJ where you could see parts of the San Francisco skyline in the DS II trench.

So hopefully some lunatic fanboy won't move to Chicago so as to get a better view of the Imperial Palace...

Well, the information that Corscant went through an architectural 'primitivist' style is nifty. I'll put that in a fanfic sometime.

Question: does Coruscant have to import oxygen? It would seem like it, since the planet's practically covered in ultra-urban development.

Depends. 60% of the population could photosynthesise for all we know. :P

Nope, they do have co2 --> 02 plants though. Ones described in NJO: Rebel Stand. A small tank of goo that does the job of several acres of forest.

Well if those are the buildings I think they are then they have the highest rent in the city
