Lord Nyax vs. Yoda

Post by Sea Skimmer »

So a little space time warp of debate facilitation transports Lord Nyax to Geonosis in place of Dooku just as Yoda arrives to stop him. Nyax has also obtained full Sith training somewhere along the way and rather then being bent on fleeing he wants Yoda's head.

So what happens and how much of the cave and surrounding twenty square kilometers are left when it's over?

Lord Nyax seemed better at fighting than Yoda was, but Yoda is clearly more powerful and a better overall character than Lord Nyax.

OBTAIN AND READ REBEL DREAM AND REBEL STAND AT ONCE!

MASSIVE SPOILERS BELOW

Lord Nyax is a cyborg Dark Jedi with built in lightsaber, six IIRC, on flexible mounts. He was originally Irek Ismaren, his father was either the Emperor or a Sarcev Quest, no one knows. His month was insane and had him modified with various cybernetics and also tampered with his growth, the result being he's three meters tall. At some point another Dark Jedi showed up and ran a lightsaber though his skull, but more cybernetics took care of that. Problem was it destroyed his memory and humanity.

Before of his new memories could be uploaded the Vong attack Coruscant, damaging the suspended animation chamber he was in. Nyax broke free, killed his mother and set off to do the only things he knew, conquered the universe, kill Jedi. He didn't have the slightest understanding of the world, no speech and only basic instinctive combat skills wired into his built in sabers.

But even in this condition he held off both Luke and Mara in a lightsaber fight along with twenty Vong. He also was jumping from sky scrapper to sky scrapper on Coruscant upper levels and enslaved thousands of people in an attempt to get at the ruins of the Jedi temple. Later he nearly turned several of the Jedi against each other and forced thousands more people to fight the Vong for him.

After breaking through the to temple he unleashed a massive amount of force energy which allowed him to fly, along with downing Coralskippers using handy massive chunks of debris and later damaging Vong cruisers with the same tactic. Though the same power was used by the Jedi to kill him with similar massive flying chunks.

Mind you, this was in his untrained form.

Nyax was a horrible idea for a character, might have made for a not too shitty novel before the Vong showed up but it was ridiculous. Yoda would smoke him just on that principle, but when you do fights like these you can't really just go and say "and he/she/it acquired full sith training along the way." Even with full training Yoda would carve him into bits, too fast and too small.

Coruscant being ruined was stupid enough, it would have made for the perfect finale, a large scale ground an space battle on Coruscant.

It's the EU. Who says they won't. Really after reading Traitor, I am fully betting that Coruscant will not be solely populated by the Vong.

I actually thought Lord Nyax was a somewhat interesting character, though he was completely out of place in the book. What the hell ever happened to the part of Coruscant that was totally ripped apart by him, anyway?

My guess is that the Vong are simply terraforming that sector of Coruscant like nothing happened. Or trying to, with the worldbrain becoming all contrary.

Well it doesn't matter what happened since the Vong have finished a large part of their "terraforming" and its different anyway. I miss Chewie...

Nyax was interesting as a concept but the character they used for him was a horrible idea. The Emperor had Luke's severed hand stored at Wayland. What if Nyax had been another Luuke Skywalker (mispelling intentional, see The Last Command). If you're going to clone, use someone important.

Not Luuke. They'd already used him, and to introduce him again would be KJA. Besides, the Wayland facility was trashed by the Noghri. I doubt they'd let something get ahold of the hand of the Son of Vader.

Nyax wasn't a clone anyways. It was Ismaren or whatever his name is. He was just hormonally rearranged. They made him big and strong and fucking bad ass. It was an interesting character, he just didn't belong in that book. That one needed to be a trilogy. The middle one could be them scouring Coruscant. Then the last one would be them coming home.

Nah, not in the NJO series at all. Good call remembering someone as vague as Ismaren though. Still, the argument stands that Luuke Skywalker woulda been better.

Sorry, I reread my post and I realized I kinda sound like a dick.

I just don't think that Ismaren fit very well and going out of their way to bring him back into the storyline just doesn't work as well as Luuke Skywalker or someone like Brakiss.

Speaking of which, whatever happened to Brakiss? I know he ended up on Telti running the Droid Factory but where is he in the NJO series? Maybe he can go fully Dark and show off some Jedi Tesitcular Fortitude lacking ever since Vader went up with the DSII

He got blown up, anti-climatically, at the end of the Shadow Academy subplot in the Young Jedi Knights series. Basically, the former Imperial Guard who was impersonating the Emperor stole the last remaining shuttle while the Shadow Academy was in orbit of Yavin IV, and then triggered the self-destruct mechanism built into the academy. No more Brakiss.

If they bring him back, I'm really going to be pissed.

In Traitor Jacen and Vergere also visit the site of the Jedi Temple. Jacen doesn't realize it at first, because the whole area is a massive crater.
Traitor, page 139 wrote: This crater-
It was big enough to swallow a star destroyer without a trace. Big enough to lose the seedship in. It dropped forever away from them in a flattening curve, its bottom lost in black shadow.
There's also a bit about part of one side being a piece of derbies kilometers tall. It would seem the combination of Vong cap ship fire and Nyax's lingering power made a rather fucking large hull.

I liked the dualagy. Though I have a higher opinion of the NJO then some, and the EU in general. This is probably because I've read any NJO book before Star by Star and have never read any of the KJA stuff.

WHat gives me the red-ass about NJO is that Luke Skywalker has turned incredibly soft he's almost Starfleet material. The New Republic has a chance to win that war within a month (Biological Weapon "Alpha Red") after having their tails tucked between their legs the entire time. Luke begs and begs them not to use it on the grounds its too risky and evil. Meanwhile, trillions are dead and millions enslaved and the government decimated. Sickening.

He's the leader of the Jedi. He can't go all Sith when he wants. Do you believe the old Jedi would have approved of Alpha Red?

Genocide of dozens if not hundreds of species is probably a path to the dark side
