Just a question if someone can answer it or if i am just being dumb let me know
When the emperor uses force lighting in the starwars movies it seems that some how he can't stop using it once something interupts the process.
In Ep 3 fights with mace windu he is beaten (this is only for those of you who believe windu won the fight if you could put your insight to it) on the floor and tries to zap mace. Now Mace reflects it back at him and yet the emperor doesn't stop using it. Was mace some how drawning out the lighting out of him or once the reflection happened the emperor couldn't stop it. How did that work out ?
Ep 3 again the emperor fights with yoda, he tries to zap yoda and yoda start to absorb it. Now the look on the emperors face was more on the lines of "oh shit" so he seemed to have known that feedback (sorry i am not sure if that was what you would call feedback feel free to correct me) was going to heppen. Once he knew why didn't he stop it instead?... now that i think about it, it was probably not wise to stop because yoda would of sent all of it back to him... so better for both of them to get the hit instead of just him
Ep 6 the emperor is zapping luke then vadar picks him up. Force lighting is flying everwhere. At this point is the lighting is just shooting out of him as he is being tossed like a rag doll over the rail. Is he just shooting it out just to hit whatever he can or has the shock of betrayel make him lose control of the power.
Problems using force lighting

Uh, no. First example, vs. Windu, he's doesn't stop the lightning because it's the only thing keeping Windu from killing him. He lost his 'saber, remember.
Second example, he's trying to overpower Yoda. It's a 'test of wills' sort of thing, like Kenobi & Vader's mutual telekinetic shove on Mustafar.
For the third one, he continues pouring out lightning to try and kill Vader 1) before he's chucked over the edge and 2) to avenge his coming death. Once he's over the rail he keeps pouring it out, presumably, because he's pissed.

Yeah, that pretty much wraps it up.
In the first two cases, he'd be defeated (read: killed) if he stopped. In RotJ, he screams like a looney while squirting lightning left and right in the same way a person wielding an automatic firearm might be doing, if someone picked them up from behind and tossed them over a railing.
Though it isn't so, it's an interesting idea if lightning took conscious effort to stop. What would happen if he was knocked unconscious? Brzzzzzzzzzzaaaaaaaaaaaaa...

In RotS, he does stop the lightning, while he's still capable of using more lightning: he drops his hands, says something to the effect of, "Tired ... can't ... go ... on ...", and waits for Anakin to turn. Then, after Windu's hand is chopped off, he uses force lightning again, and blows him out the window. If he cut off because he was drained, then he wouldn't be able to use lightning again so quickly.
A Government founded upon justice, and recognizing the equal rights of all men; claiming higher authority for existence, or sanction for its laws, that nature, reason, and the regularly ascertained will of the people; steadily refusing to put its sword and purse in the service of any religious creed or family is a standing offense to most of the Governments of the world, and to some narrow and bigoted people among ourselves.

You sort of missed the point I think; the point is that it takes effort to stop before you are drained, not that it is impossible. How else could Palps give Yoda a quick blast in the office? Regardless I believe it has been settle that this is not the case.
"Do not worry, I have prepared something for just such an emergency."
"You're prepared for a giant monster made entirely of nulls stomping around Mainframe?!"
"That is correct!"
"How do you plan for that?"
"Uh... lucky guess?"

Actually, the OP says "When the emperor uses force lighting in the starwars movies it seems that some how he can't stop using it once something interupts the process." But regardless, the point has been settled. The Silence and I wrote:You sort of missed the point I think; the point is that it takes effort to stop before you are drained, not that it is impossible.
