Why do clonetrooper blasters fire blue blasts?

Any ideas?

Because it looks better for the movie to fire different coloured blasts...

I don't think it has any meaning.

Lucasfilm used purple-red coloured blast for ion cannon. (Tyrant hit over Hoth)
The jawa ion-rifle blast was blue...

Lucasarts used blue coloured blasts in their SW games...

Everything is messed up or colour doesn't count at all concerning blasts. :?

Agreed. I think it is for the asthetic pleasure we get from watching the movie. Sort of like during the arena scene when we see red and blue light sabers activate.

C-3PO has yellow eyes but I don't think that has any direct meaning either. Just looks cool.

I wasn't asking for 'meaning', it's just a known fact from the OT that all infantry weapons fire red blasts, and no other color.

Then this is not a fact anymore...isn't it?

I mean it's still a fact but it can't be applied to AoTC.

Duh...I'm talking too much! :D

Indeed- so the question is, in the space between Episode III and IV, why did blue blasts become red blasts?

Maybe it's somehow connected with the strength of the blast?

Doubt it- Veers AT-AT fires a "maximum firepower" red blasts to destroy the shield generator on Hoth- AT-TEs cannons fire blue blasts exclusively.

Chalk it up to different type weapons? Even though they are based off of the same principles I think.

Perhaps the blue color was reserved for planetary defense forces and the clonetroopers borrowed the equipment? It doesn't seem to be brand new.

Imperial nationalization of weapons corporations leads to standardization of energy weapon tracer beams. Red for surface weapons, green for heavy/spacecraft weapons, blue for Imperial ion cannons.

The Rebels use non-Imperial corporate sources to get weapons, but it appears that the infantry level standardization is uniform now. But their black-market ion cannon fired red-purple blasts, and their starships and fighters fire red beams.

I don't think it really means anything. I think the weapon designer can make it whatever they want.
