If you could be a rank and file crewman(assuming you had the qualifications) in an ISD, what would you be? And why? I am not sure if this is in the correct forum, please, if I am in error, move this thread.

Either a LTL gunner of a HTL gunner. I want to set up flak bursts against fighter formations.

I also would love seeing my HTL blast hit he spine of a NEB-B and see the ship get cut in two.

Captain. I know the risks of displeasing Lord Vader but the pay has to be a lot better, plus if I ever had the chance to spearhead an invasion of the federation i'd personally ensure the destruction of a certain Intrepid class ship and its former commanding officer.

Slicer. 'Nuff said.

One of the gunners or weapons control people. If I have to serve on one of those ships, I want the chance to fire some large weapons.

The "Play Chicken with a Black Hole" often freaks ou tthe crew

The "Dodge The Asteroids with a 1600m Long Ship" is nearly impossible to defeat, but is still abumpy ride

And last but not least is the "BDZ The Unsuspecting Neighbor Planet" guranteed to ruin dipomatic relations with anyone!

Yes but do droids get their pick of mistresses from targeted planets?

First gunnery officer. Traditionally, that means the guy that fights the heaviest armament. If there is only one gunnery officer, then I'll be that too (though this should be unlikely.)

Well, since I'd have to pretend to be male, TIE pilot would be easiest.

They're so big and powerful... I've always loved them.

Executive Officer, for a couple reasons

1) You get the second best room on the ship, sure it ain't the EBST but its damn close and that's usually good enough.

2) You don't have to concern yourself with much mroe than the administrative headaches during normal operaitons but then in combat suddenly you are the guy who is going everywhere getting things done.

3) A good XO can be the CO in effect. Sure it takes a weaker CO but a good XO will establish loyalty with the crew and suddenly be the middleman that teh CO has to work through to get real results...which makes him the CO except that you still have to listen to the CO when he makes up his mind.

4) You don't have that damn responsibility thing if Vader gets testy. In other words you're safe for at elast the first time the ship fails...unless its a real stinker and then you'd be dead no matter what position.

Yeah, but how long before you'd be "promoted" to CO? Assuming you're in Lord Vader's task force.

Actually, I always thought the Captain of the ship had a better time of it than the XO. The XO always seemed to get crapped on and got stuck doing all the stuff the Captain decided he didn't want to do. The CO has a few more perks than the XO. Of course most of the XO's I've seen wanted to eventually Captain their own carrier so they all were strung a bit more tightly than the guy who was already sitting in the chair.

Now, I did have one Captain that had a reall stick up his butt. He had really screwed up and was trying very very hard to make up for it so he could make Admiral. Didn't happen.
