In Memoriam: The fallen of Geonosis
Charge of the Jedi:
Half a league, half a league,
Half a league onward,
All in the arena of Death
Ran the two hundred.
'Forward, the Jedi Knights!
This party's over!' he said:
Into the arena of Death
Leapt the two hundred.
'Forward, the Jedi Order!'
Was there a man dismayed?
Not though the Jedi knew
Some one had blundered:
Their's not to make reply,
Their's not to reason why,
Their's but to do and die:
Into the arena of Death
Ran the two hundred.
Super Battledroid to right of them,
Droideka to left of them,
Battledroid in front of them
Volleyed and thundered;
Stormed at with plasma bolt,
Boldly they rushed and well,
Into the jaws of Death,
Into the mouth of the Dark Side
Plunged the two hundred
Flashed all their sabres bare,
Flashed as they tuned in air
Sabring the wardroids there,
Charging an army, while
Nute Gunray raged:
Plunged in the battery-smoke
Before the line they broke;
But Fett and Genosian
Reeled from the sabre-stroke
Shattered and sundered.
Then they flew out, but not
Not the two hundred.
Half a league, half a league,
Half a league onward,
All in the arena of Death
Ran the two hundred.

Hey, that's a pretty good variation on a classic

Pretty good. I doubt more then ten people here know or could guess what its based off of.

I have no clue about English poems, but I remembered that in DS9 O'Brien was often speaking lines from Charge of the Light Brigade and they sounded vaguely similar to this one. Gunner, did you write this yourself? It's pretty nice.
"Thousands of years ago cats were worshipped as gods. Cats have never forgotten this."
I altered the words somewhat to fit the scenario, but the actual base poem is the Charge of the Light Brigade, by Lord Alfred Tennyson:
Half a league, half a league,
Half a league onward,
All in the valley of Death
Rode the six hundred.
"Forward, the Light Brigade!
Charge for the guns!" he said;
Into the valley of Death
Rode the six hundred.
"Forward, the Light Brigade!"
Was there a man dismayed?
Not though the soldier knew
Someone had blundered:
Theirs not to make reply,
Theirs not to reason why,
Theirs but to do and die;
Into the valley of Death
Rode the six hundred.
Cannon to right of them,
Cannon to left of them,
Cannon in front of them,
Volleyed and thundered;
Stormed at with shot and shell,
Boldly they rode and well;
Into the jaws of Death,
Into the mouth of Hell,
Rode the six hundred.
Flashed all their sabres bare,
Flashed as they turned in air
Sabring the gunners there,
Charging an army, while
All the world wondered:
Plunged in the battery-smoke
Right through the line they broke;
Cossack and Russian
Reeled from the sabre-stroke,
Shattered and sundered.
Then they rode back, but not-
Not the six hundred.
Cannon to right of them,
Cannon to left of them,
Cannon behind them,
Volleyed and thundered;
Stormed at with shot and shell
While horse and hero fell,
They that had fought so well
Came through the jaws of Death,
Back from the mouth of Hell,
All that was left of them,
Left of six hundred.
When can their glory fade?
O the wild charge they made!
All the world wondered.
Honour the charge they made,
Honour the Light Brigade,
Noble six hundred!
Half a league, half a league,
Half a league onward,
All in the valley of Death
Rode the six hundred.
"Forward, the Light Brigade!
Charge for the guns!" he said;
Into the valley of Death
Rode the six hundred.

What about the poor clones, no mention for them? the lines:
Theirs not to make reply,
Theirs not to reason why,
Theirs but to do and die;
Are pretty meanigful for them, I mean we see Jedi like Qui Gon question the council and get away with it, but could you imagine what would happen to a clone if he questioned an order?
And I think Charge of the Light Brigade is well known enough that most people would have got the link (although I'm in Britain, maybe it's not so well known in the states - it might have been pushed out of the school curriculum in favor of creationism or something ).

Okay they did win the battle of Geonosis, but surely there are examples of honorable Stormie defeats?

No, the ignorance of such things is quite strong on this Earth. In any case ten people have yet to indicate that they did know before Oberleutnant ruined any chance of acutally finding out.NecronLord wrote:?Sea Skimmer wrote:Pretty good.
