Just a quick question. Theres a million systems do all of them have inhabital planets or are most of them just small colonies?

IIRC it's 1 million full member worlds and 50 million various colonies, protectorates, etc.

Tarkin speaks of the power of the Death Star binding the million systems of the Empire together.
One would think each and every one of these systems would have to be important enough to be bound together - heavily populated worlds.
Tarkin certainly wasn't considering Sigma Yokel III in his speech.

As stated above, a million member worlds (including a few planetary cities, look ecumenopolis in Wookiepedia for a limited list) and fifty million backwaters. For planets with a very limited presence (outposts and the like) you can probably push the numbers into the billions.
