Who should direct Episode III?

Who do you think would do the best job with Episode III? Kershner directed Empire, and Marquand directed Jedi.

Richard Marquand is dead. He passed away in 1987.
Irvin Kershner is the best choice. Episode III definitely needs the Episode V vibe.

Just think how freaky and creapy stuff could be if it were directed by David Lynch or Tim Burton.
Burton really got off on all the "Freaks" in Batman so can you imagine what he'd do with Star Wars and the origin of Darth Vader in particular?
David Lynch might also have some sick and twisted stuff with Anakin turning into Vader. Also, he'd likely have lots of kinky sex scenes between Anakin and Padmé.

Kershner all the way.

Forget who directs it, how about who writes the dialouge?

As long as the movie is good and doesn't crap out acting wise like Clones did i really don't care who directs it

I'm not so concerned about the directing as I am about the writing. Granted, I liked Episode II a lot, but the writing was shit compared to TESB. I thought that the directing and acting was fine, personally. The biggest gripe I had was with the dialogue and the way Anakin and Padme's romance went along. Something about it just didn't sit right with me, especially when you compare it it Han and Leia's romance in TESB, which was brilliantly scripted.

I'd perfer Kershner but Lucas can do a fair job directing. Its the script I'd worry about. Lucas realy needs to stick to the plot and the design of the film, and leave dialog to someone else or a team of others.

Forget directing. Lawrence Kasdan is who we need, to write the script.

Are we gonna have some macho death scenes? If so; Ridley Scott. Can anyone say 'Gladiator' or 'Black Hawk Down'?

Ridley Scott can make cool movies but I wouldn't like to see him make a SW movie, I'm not sure if he could do it right.
I'd have to say Kershner, we definetely need something like ESB again and EIII has the potential.

Dude, Mace or more accurately Samuel L, needs a fruckin' A' Macho death scene!

Give me Kershner, there's a reason why Empire was the best.

Why? Boba killing him will do just fine.
I certainly wouldn't trust the very last Star Wars movie, which has the potential to become the best one, to a director who hasn't any connection to Star Wars whatsoever. Kershner on the other hand gave us ESB.

I think it's not the direction but the writing that really needs attention. Lucas has always been weak on dialogue but with the prequels there hasn't really been anyone to tell him he's fucking up in that regard. He needs some one who can nail the dialogue not a different director.

Also the cutting. Whoever cut AotC for Imax did a great job.

Kershner directing with Kasdan writing; Lucas can make the overall story.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks so. Hell, Kasdan could write
and direct it. He's no slouch at either.

Spielberg wanted to do a Star Wars film and he's one of histories greatest directors, he's definitely in the top 10, so for directing he would be a good choice. But really Lucas does a good job in my opinion, his style is very visual heavy, it's kinda like Blade Runner.
In terms of writing, save for Jar Jar I haven't found too much wrong with the dialogue of the prequels. Lucas and Hale have did a great job with AOTC, it's just the delivery of the dialoge that isn't that good. Spielberg is a great actors director, he could easily fix any problems with delivery.
Editting is where the real problem is. Ben Burrt is a great sound designer but his editting, although great for just pushing the story along, is pretty weak in terms of characterization. The love story was relly hurt by cutting all those scenes in Padme's homestead, and really the whole concept of the Lost Twenty really would have helped in the build up of Count Dooku.

Yeah that was the one thing that got me about AotC, the editing/cutting. Lucas should stick to the ideas, universe and overall story. Like the idea of kirshner directing.
I generally think the whole prequel trilogy would have been better if it had been made in the eighties, then they wouldn't be so reliant on effects and would have had to work on the plot/dialogue/everything else more.

Finally! We'd have canon proof that doves exist in the Star Wars universe!
