Lightsabre and a Jedi

I was reading the Why don't Jedi carry guns thread, and I just thought to post this,in case anyone else hasn't.
The samurai warriors of Japan refused to carry firearms, despite the fact that Japan,at one point in the world had the largest arsenal in the world. It was believed that firearms were demeaning, detracted from the emotions of killing(with the inherent deductions in honour and stuff) and subtracted power from the warrior,as any peasant can now kill a samurai.
So,I submit that the Jedi do not use weapons for some of the reasons samurai do not.Its obvious that like the sword, the ligthsabre is a symbol of a Jedi, with its inherent nobility and power. However,a gun, would be more for commoners, someone without the skills and martial prowress of a samurai/Jedi.And some may even believe that using a blaster subtracts from the honour, skill and nobility of being a Jedi Knight.
