Can I get sources showing that they hame more than one generator/emitter? This is for a debate so if I could get the name of the book and a page number that would be great.

Coruscant is built out of dozens of interlocking and backed up generators. But its the exception to the rule.

Why do you say that? Bothawui has an almost identical, if likely less powerful, system (as does one of the worlds Thrawn conquers in the HoT trilogy, IIRC, the agricultural one).

I knew I should have read those books again.

They are now saying that Coruscant had two shields and therefore only two generators. Any physics guys want to give me reasons why it would/wouldn't work with that few generators.

Wrong wrong wrong.

Wedge's gamble specificly points out dozens of generators spread over the planet. They had to hit a power station to shutdown generators because hitting single generators would require destroying several sites just to open a single hole.

This is confirmed in both Labyrinth of Evil and Star by Star (indeed, in both, the planet has additional theater shield defense network below the main shield systems).

Why do people even BOTHER debating with people who concentrate on such laughable ideas (lolz two generators=two shields) with obviously no research of their own? The people you are debating are IDIOTS. What's the point?

With the size of planets and the area a shield generator is capable of covering effectively it's almost physically impossible to have only two shield generators cover an entire planet, if only because of line of sight difficulties. Also, most books say that planets covered by full planet-protecting shields use hundreds of generators providing an interlocking network.

And Courscant in Star by Star appears to have a whole bunch of secondery generators when the shield is up. As when the Generators blew from ships ramming the shield and opened a hole, Courscant shield control was able to bring more generators online to close the hole up again.

Of course later when hundreds or thousands of Vong ships which were crippled by the minefield in orbit changed course and rammed the shield, the entire grid failed and stayed down. So there is a limit.
