SW: Rebellion

Does anyone here know how accurate SW: Rebellion is in terms of its map and how the Capital Ships compare to one another?

The way the capital ships compare to each other is way off. When playing as the Rebels, I constructed a fleet of about a dozen Mon Cals and a number of smaller support ships, and decided to go around and smash every world in the Empire with brute force, since properly conquering each planet with troops was such a pain in the ass. Along the way I encountered multiple Imperial fleets, several with up to four SSDs and one with six. Each battle was an overwhelming victory for me, and I lost only 1 or 2 Mon Cals along the way.

I did notice that, what pisses me off about the Mon Cal Ships is that they don't include Home One and the larger star cruisers. No instead they have the Bulwark, and where exactly did that stupid ship come from and why does it have firepoqer equivalent to an SSD.

The game is balanced in favour of the Rebels no doubt.
Although I've not once failed to utterly crush them
What pisses me off most is that the Executors are too small and much too weak.

And also that the fighters aren't flying around the Death Star to stop the rebels quicker....grrrr.

You can stop that glitch if you give the Death Star all TIE Defenders. They begin outside.
Of course, my Death Star always travels with The Grand Fleet: five SSDs and 15 ISDs.

I play with edited files, so my fleets are usually of 12SSDs, with a full complement of fighters. Once, I built a bunch of Death Stars, and destroyed all Rebel systems.

The game is pretty fun, but poorly balanced and is devoiced from the reality of Starwars. Thus the whole game thing.

Nothing a proper editor won't fix...

Its an excellent fun game, but it lacks a lot in terms of 'realisim'.

Yes, and with an Editor I do even better. Without it I am still unstoppable, but I step on the Rebel's artery always: the Outer Rim.

The game frustrates me. It's got potential but the UI is evil incarnate and the combat engine is a giant shit.

I've noticed that the Executor class is very fragile in Rebellion compared to what it *should* be. I prefer a larger fleet made up of ISD IIs anyway: they have a faster hyperdrive multiplier and by that point in the game I'm usually cruising the Outer Rim mopping up the remnants of the rebellion. Four Death Stars is my record for production so far... once I hit four having any more was straining my resources. What I hate are those thrice-damned rebel diplomats: I put a *lot* of effort into capturing or killing any rebel with a high diplomacy rating early in the game.
As the rebels, I build X-wings and escort carriers in massive numbers.

Hm... When I was playing Imperials, I made an effort at continually raiding Rebel planets. It hurt my popular support a lot, but devastated their production capacity. I had Vader and Palpatine on Coruscant recruiting and training my Jedi Assassins. Towards the end, I had about 3 guys with 300 espionage and 400 combat.

My strategy is too leave my Sectors undefended the worthless Core ones I don't use for building stuff then I seep the Rebels and put their Systems in uproar.

I was hooked on this game for awhile, but it got tedious and the games could really drag on after awhile, I particularly despised the endgame when I had Skywalker in my clucthes and everyone else dead or captured then it became an hour long hunt for that stupid rebel base, it would frustrate me so much because the travel times into the outer rim were ridiculously long that I started to play with teh find teh rebel base option checked off.
As a rebel I always found it tough to get Luke up to Jedi kniight in time to actually let him train the likes of Leia and others.
But these are minor quibbles it was pretty enjoyable for a while and I wouldn't mind seeing a more updated and faster paced version

I once used over a dozen death stars, granted I accomplished this by scrapping all ships other than SSD, ISDII and Interdictor. but my fleet complement was large enough to keep my systems safe.
My favorite planet destroying binge consisted of my 12 death stars wiping out over half of the systems on a small game. If you keep your garrisons large enough in the inhabited systems then it doesn't matter how much diplomacy drops.

Quite a good game but totally unreal.
I usually follow this strategy:
In every sector I make one highly defended planet with lot of shipyards.
No mining units and refineries on this planet.
Then I occupy one rebel planet in the sector and while a fleet orbiting there I use diplomacy there to make the popularity turn to my side.
Then I leave the planet undefended and when the rebels assaulting I retake it.
Then on all other planet in the system the popularity of my mighty Empire will have a big boost.
Continue it as long as you need. In couple of weeks there will be uprisings on all rebel planets in the system. Then you just move your fleet there and start bombarding. But always assign a person with good leadership to your fleet as Admiral, this way no civilian facilities will be destroyed while bombarding.
Fighters lasts much longer if you have a Commander in your fleet.
I used to play the imperial side
and try to keep the game to the original scheme.
There is always one Death Star and only four SSDs.
(Onl four I remember: Executor, Iron Fist, Knight's Hammer and the one from the Darksaber fleet) They can't be in the same fleet.
That way the game much harder...

I recall making the hyperdrive realistic. And adding in a realistic Eclipse class. And indeed making everything imperial realisitc and laughing horribly as My 1000 ISD's rampaged the galaxy. (i edited the cost a little)

What I always missed in that game is that one can't make hit and fade strikes with just starfighters. (Rebels)
You can't hyper 3 squadrons of X-wings and 2 squadrons of B-wings to an imperial planet, just if you put them on a capital ship!
That sucks!!!

Executor and a sister ship of the same name (renamed Lusankya). Somewhere along the line though the SSD Brawler was given to Zsinj and renamed Iron Fist by Zsinj. The star destroyer Knight Hammer was not one of the original 4, it was built by a warlord. There was the Star Destroyer though that belonged to the Black Fleet (i think thats whut you mean by Darksaber), I can't remember its name but it was captured after Endor by the Yevetha.
I usually used one SSD (w 12 TIE-Def) and pair it with an interdictor of a similar name. That forms the core of the fleet which is then filled with ISDII's Lancers, Victorys you name it. If only the Death Star would fire faster though...

Yes you're right, thanks for the correction!
...and the Death Star really should fire MUCH faster!

Also the Razor's Kiss, from the novel Iron Fist by Aaron Allston, destroyed in the same novel. Apparently the Remnant and the NR both have at least one thing called a SSD in Destiny's Way, the NR one was the Guardian I think, the one in the Imperial Remnant could have been the one recovered from the Yevetha previously. The first novel of the Black Fleet Crisis mentioned another SSD that blew the crap out of a Republic carrier that was too stupid to launch fighters beforehand.
On the other hand, in Star Wars Infinities ANH, we clearly see more than twenty Executors in orbit over Coruscant in one small section of space. Not canon, but still cool.
