Hyper space and light speed

Do you guys think that Star Wars ships need to enter light speed (for whatever reason that we can discuss later) to travel through hyper space? For example, in ROTJ, before the Rebel Fleet arrives at Death Star 2, the ships are seen moving through a blue vortex (hyper space?) and then moving past sreeking stars (light speed?) before entering real space. I think this may explain the whole hyper space/light speed thing. Any thoughts?

I don't think that lightspeed is the answer, because if it were we would see TWO fleets of starships emerging from hyperspace following their reversion in RotJ. Instead, we see that they come out of hyperspace well under lightspeed, and they presumably enter it in the same manner. While a reasonable attempt at rationalization, I'm not sure that it is supportable through the visual evidence.

I'm just puzzled as to how you would interpret it that way.

AFAIK, the term "lightspeed" in Star Wars has always been slang for hyperspace travel, much the same as "lasers" can be slang for blasters and the like. And yes, the mottled blue vortex is part of hyperspace.
