Jedi meld in NJO question

As we all know, the Jedi meld, using Jedi as squadron leaders were invented to fight against the Yuzhan Vong.

My question is, exactly what tactical benefits does the Jedi meld offer above conventional communications/AI/Force powers? Jaina seems to make it clear that she's not duplicating C"boath Force enhancement whereas in the reformed Jedi council, its stated that the Jedi will be in command of the fleet units, not Admiral Krefray.

Since the entire fleet aren't jedi and Jedi are only attached to various squadrons or parts of fleet groups, just exactly how does this offset the Yuzhan Vong advantages?

IIRC, the meld doesn't constitute some massive advantage against the Vong in battle; as you say, it only serves to give the Jedi involved in the fighting better coordination. I don't recall any instance where the technique alone won a battle (even if it may have contributed to some extent, depending on the circumstances).

An ability doesn't have to turn the tide of a conflict to still be useful.
