Heroes - Chapter 5 (Spoilers)

Post by KrauserKrauser »

Since no one started the thread, I might as well.

So, daddy of the cheerleader might not be the bad guy that the cop shot? Just a henchman?

Also, looks like little brother gains the powers of those around him, not having any innate powers by himself? Guess he would be the most powerful when they are teamed up then.

Crazy Black Man is Nikki's Ex?! I really didn't see it coming. The Father doing all that for his daughter is cool.

The opening scene blew my mind when the older brother flew away at high speed and made a sonic boom. Does this mean he would have the requisite toughness and large lung capacity to put up with the stresses of supersonic speed?

Let's hope so. Otherwise, it'll just hurt my brain.

The Sonic Boom was very pretty, though.

Yeah, this is the first appearance of Nikki's ex. The other guy is the one who can "steal" someones memories.

And according to the preview for next week, Nikki's ex is Shadowcat.

They need to save something in the previews, I can already guess with a good degree of certainty how the fight will go.

However, will he end up always one of the bad guys or is he really a bad guy at all? Did he ever kill anyone or was it Nikki (Alternate) every time?

I only realized it a short while later.

Hey, they were both big, black and bald, what can I say?

It would have been a good twist anyway...

Looks like they're developing their powers more. Though, the cheerleader's seem to vary in how fast it takes to heal. The cop is having trouble with his mind-reading, though that may be a side effect of his capture. And mystery black guy has memory stealing powers. Pretty nifty stuff. And Peter has confirmed mimicry skills. He painted a picture of the future when near the painter. Interesting that not only can he seemingly paint as well as the painter, but he doesn't need to take heroin to do it.

Hiro thinks he's "leveled up [his] skill" according to his blog. I wonder if that is Heroes canon.

Can't wait for next week.

I can't believe that I missed it last week...but this week's episode was simply dynamite. Hiro gets more endearing every week, and I have to say that I was impressed that they actually thought to put a mimic on the show - that's just simply not one of the abilities that are commonly used. I can think of maybe three characters - Mimic, Synch and Parasite - from Marvel and DC who've had any kind of power-imitating ability.

Uh, Rogue? Amazo?

It'd be interesting to see if he drains the powers, or if he can simly mimic them.

I didn't think of Rogue for precisely that reason - it's not imitating so much as stealing. (I also tend to think of the green-and-yellow spandex, Ms. Marvel-powered version of her rather than the current version; I blame the X-Men cartoon.)

I did outright forget Amazo, though.

Perhaps. But, doesn't Parasite also kind of steal people's powers? Or was that only in the cartoon?

1. Last night was just amazing. THe first couple were good, but these last two were just Wow'ers. I'm SO lookin forward to next week.

2. I LOVED it when he took off, and that is some horrendous acceleration because it looked like he went up not terribly far, came to a pause, and then accellerated laterally with a sonic boom. Even without that though, that is some monster accelleration to go from a standing start to a sonic boom in a few seconds.

3. I wonder if Mimic boy can copy multiple people at once. If so, he's going to be a complete and total bad ass when they all get together.[/quote]

Oh, I think her dad is the BBEG, but I must have missed the shooting episode you mentioned.

Personally, I don't think the girl's dad is necessarily working for the evil guy. I also don't think it's Syler or whoever that guy was. I don't think that Nathan would have gotten away if it was. He has those funky powers that her dad could have used to get Nathan but didn't. I'm inclined to think they're not the same person.

Sylar is the 'bad guy' who appears to be telekinetic, and is the guy that the cop shot.

Personally, I think Claire's dad only seems to be the bad guy, perhaps in the way that Magneto seems to be too. He's got his own reasons, but his reasons and motivations aren't necessarily themselves evil -- only his actions. He didn't actually do anything bad to the cop (that we know of), or to Nathan. He seems to be cataloguing them, I guess.

Mohinder is, I think, the unpowered Professor X of the bunch, with Peter being the Cyclops (i.e. the 'leader' or at least rallying force). Of course, this depends on Mohinder sticking around. ;)

Also, I love this show. Possibly the best show on TV right now, even next to BSG.

I'm pretty sure that the guy shot by the cop was DL, Nikki's ex, since the cops say they had him in custody and he escaped.

I still think the best line from the episode is Nathan's.

"Two million, and you have a candidate in your pocket. Four million, and you have a Congressman."

I'm wondering if Nathan will become a super-powered Lex Luther.

My roommate and his girlfriend are CONVINCED that Syler = Claire's dad, but I don't think there's been any definitive on-screen proof of it. Am I wrong, or have we never clearly seen Syler's face? Also, has Syler ever appeared with memory-man?

One thing I wonder, though, is if Nathan knows about Hiro's power. Did Hiro tell him? It seemed uncharacteristic for Nathan to talk with Hiro and then give him a ride, and its nice to see he's not being one-dimensionally evil.

Hiro told him "I stop time!" and swore to protect Nathan's secret. Whether Nathan believed Hiro or not is questionable, but it was enough for Nathan to say 'eh, why not' when it came to giving him a ride back to Vegas.

I thought it was hilarious that Hiro remembered Nathan winning the election "Oh yes, big win!"

It was the top story of the Newspaper Hiro saw, iirc.

Yeah, but he had alot on his mind between the decapitation and losing 5 weeks of time, plus the immediately ensuing nuclear explosion.

I hope Hiro and Nathan have more scenes together, because their complete oppositeness makes for some great TV.

P.S. Apparently Claire has a myspace page.

Sylar at Wikipedia. I'm pretty sure he is neither DL nor the Mysterious Man, and I find it unlikely that he's Mr. Bennet, as well.
