Princess Tutu (semi-spoilers)

Post by Yogi »

I just finished watching the anime Princess Tutu.

Wow.

Whoever would have thought that an anime called Princess Tutu could be so tragic. Much of it is standard magical girl fare, but other sections are very well written, and it genuinely has an atmosphere of despair towards the end. Some scenes like Mythos telling Krähe that she would never be loved by anyone else, Fakier crying as he writes Ahiru's story at the end, and the general evilness of Drosselmeyer turns what would ordinarily be the cheesiest magical girl show ever, into a powerful emotional drama.

So, anyone else seen this one?
I am capable of rearranging the fundamental building blocks of the universe in under six seconds. I shelve physics texts under "Fiction" in my personal library! I am grasping the reigns of the universe's carriage, and every morning get up and shout "Giddy up, boy!" You may never grasp the complexities of what I do, but at least have the courtesy to feign something other than slack-jawed oblivion in my presence. I, sir, am a wizard, and I break more natural laws before breakfast than of which you are even aware!

Seen first episode so far.. *sigh* another series I must watch through..
In my talons, I shape clay, crafting life forms as I please. If I wish, I can smash it all. Around me is a burgeoning empire of steel. From my throne room, lines of power careen into the skies of Earth. My whims will become lightning bolts that raze the mounds of humanity. Out of chaos, they will run and whimper, praying for me to end their tedious anarchy. I am drunk with this vision. God: the title suits me well.
