The Black Company, at it's height under the original Captain(pre-SL), contained about 6,000 heavy infantrymen(a portion of which could be converted to cavalry) and three minor wizards, who are most skilled at creating devilish and highly convincing illusions.
A year after the imperial victory at Charm, the Black Company is sent through time and space to the city of Constantinople, three months before Mehmet begins his attack. Constantine employs the Company(let's say the Italians loaned him some cash) to defend the city.
Does the presence of the Company alter the course of history? If the Company can fight off the Turks, can Constantine use them to claw back Byzantine lands?

Actually, the Company under the captain was a demoralized, disorganized rabble. They broke a major contract and had weaseled out of several more. Not to mention the massive discipline problems they had. They started several riots with their drunken antics.
They won't make must difference, they're not tough enough to help much.
PS, it's four wizards if you are talking about before they enlist with Catcher: Silent, Tom-Tom, One Eye and Goblin.

No...this is a year or two after the Battle of Charm, and the only contract they 'broke' was the one with the Syndic of Beryl, IIRC.
I think they could win, if they employed themselves correctly. The wizards would almost certainly succede in knocking out the cannons, and then the Turks have to overcome all the fortifications without it's aid.

Yes, I know that. Three wizards capable of conjuring multitudes of demonic illusions? They could shatter Ottoman morale.

During the siege the Ottomans saw a crescent moon backlit against a blood-red sky due to a meteorological conjunction, which was of course the symbol of the Ottoman Empire, and this was foretold to them to be a symbol that the city would be taken by them. Their morale was excellent and because of this they were quite convinced that Allah had given the city to them if they could only breach the walls. It would be hard to crack their morale with mere illusions.HemlockGrey wrote:Yes, I know that. Three wizards capable of conjuring multitudes of demonic illusions? They could shatter Ottoman morale.
